Thanks for the confirmation PSU! If the price is still same with all new parts, I think the panel is pretty good value for money, At least for me would be, after calculating just the cost of emitters from cutter and other sources + taxes and such. I wonder if you could mount a heatsink to the...

Good luck with the studies! I think that is a more important goal to pursue too. Not that deeper understanding of LED technology is bad for your career, but first things first. :) Sorry, I'm just an uneducated fool and english isn't my native language so I don't really think I can give you a...

Any progress with that spreadsheet JMD? In the meantime, tried to do some rough estimates for the hans (ledgrow.eu) panel. Assuming 700mA drive current, 50C junction temperature, 550mW bin XT-E's, 720mW rebels: @ 56W ~1.66PPF/W @ 65W ~1.43PPF/W If upgraded with XP-E2 P3, ~28% addition or...

Though, I failed to think about the sad state of economics around the world, price of pot etc etc. :) What do I know, might be a good one still? At least the customers have money!

I haven't put much thought to it, but looked briefly at A51 site and came to a conclusion: almost 600$ for 72 Cree leds of unknown bin, some electronics and a metal casing contain at least some overhead even when calculating nice money for design. Taking into consideration that buying bulk will...

Very, very big thanks guod! You seem to have deep knowledge of the subject, looking at the usefulness of the links you have posted. :) Any recommendations for preferably open source linux software that can handle those simulation files? I didn't even know there exists such data provided by the...

I'm surely not an expert on the subject, but last time I checked I found one for roughly 4000$. I don't know if thats a suitable model for our purposes though and on top of that, you would need an integrating sphere. I have no clue what those cost. :)

After staring at the spreadsheets and comparing prices of single premounted leds on stars I've come to same conclusion as stardustsailor and others who have jumped on the white led bandwagon. Indeed you get the best ppf/ypf per dollar in most cases when you pick the best bins at cutter for...

Not unrelated at all! At least I'm dying to see what those XM-L's can do. So far looking pretty convincing! What bins did you use and how big is the grow area? NW:WW 1:1?

First plots digitized with the engauge, involves a bit more manual work than I'd like but better than staring pixels. :) Anyone else calculating anything, or do you just keep the data to yourselves? Would be nice to compare results to further estimate "accuracy" if there is any with these...

The idea is very simple, just go through the instructions and try. Not very intuitive to use, but I don't know any other way. Looking for an option for digitizing: http://digitizer.sourceforge.net/usermanual/tutormanlinegraph.html Better suggestions?

Easiest is to use LedEngin tool like yabo said, obtain a ppf/x lumen multiplier per spectrum and use that. Right and more useable in the future would be the knna way, that way you have the ppf/nm data and you can build more datasets out of it like "YPF" in his sheets (better for comparing true...

https://anonfiles.com/file/e42e888c4c61a65922620fd67b2fe258 Something like this might work when comparing different bins of the same led. Though I'd like to see a bit more things on it. edit2: New version, with nw, ww and XM-L2 and future/imaginary bins. :)

I encourage to use another format, not all of us use m$ products. :) I dabbled with something too, would be cool to see if it can be implemented to your work. Cheers!

Big thanks yabo! JMD, holler if I there's something I can do with the spreadsheet. Public "open source" kinda thing would be neat. :)

Rrog, very nice! Have you done any estimates for umol / area / s^2 with that panel? guod, absolutely fantastic link! Thank you! Quite revealing, it seems that there exists a bin P4 for XP-E2 reds already. And XM-L red too? JMD, that spreadsheet would kick ass, especially if combined with...

I don't have the forum cred to setup one, but I'll be happy to chip in for 100 or 200 if someone hooks up a group deal on those crees. On top of that our local post service will want an arm or leg for international packages. :)

DIY : Soldering Leds to heatsink ,without MCPCB.Doable ?

I see a lot of us have similar ideas towards developing these lights. I was thinking if using a solution from flashlight scene would be feasible, I have seen few cases where they have ground the bottom terminals off and reflowed the emitter directly to a copper base. If anyone has a clue how...
