actually, it's the slighly backed off shot, not the closest of the close that's the issue. toying around a bit earlier...using a flash up close=too bright. so i backed off, zoomed in, left the flash on, and got better results, more depth of field that way.

if you're able...do a test. make it rain on the plants with a sprinkler or hose, and reinforce/tie up where needed. any weaknesses will showright away. if you repeat this process, a couple times a week, generally in the evening, so the plants can dry before sun hits hard, it will strengthen them...
