Why are you digging the roots up? Silly ass. If it has been too wet recently that would inhibit root growth. If the roots had more oxygen they would grow more. Just calm down and let the plant be. It will grow on its own.

I'd happily put one 600 in a 4x4 tent. Two seems overkill to me. Is there a/c in the tent? It needs a cooltube to draw air across the light. The tent needs to be sealed to utilize the co2.

I think you should get the 600, and the 4 bulb t5. I'd even go with a 6 bulb for veg. It only adds another 104watts per two bulbs. The two bulb fixture is great for cloning, not much else. The 4 bulb wouldn't give you a very wide light footprint to support your expanding canopy while new...
