Plastic directly in contact with any of your flowers is not a good idea but if you can suspend the plastic above the plants with PVC or metal that makes it just like a greenhouse

How much light are your plants getting from your home I know you had successful harvest in the past but you might wanna look into limiting the light they get from the house.
