    Recycling Coco

Hi Bindle, I reuse my coco. No garden and trash volume is an issue. I just use my hands to break up rootball (after a bit if drying) and pick out roots. Once roots are gone...it gets a good rinse...both to wash out nutrients as well as the pithy coco that accumulates from cellular breakdown...

    Dechlorinate city water?

Bd, Ya...I do. When I moved to a new location 3 years ago...I had a freshly purchased cheapo RO unit. Water was only 80 ppm so I just stripped off the RO parts and run the carbon filters to remove chlorine and chloramine. I am assuming it works since I have no way to test it.. JD

    Should i worry about this?

Angel, Renfro's right...just leave them be. I was thinking more about how when that happens and constricts the cotyledons so they can't open. More of a problem. JD

    Should i worry about this?

Hi Angel, Can't see the pix that well...old eyes. But you talking about membrane or seed half? If you have steady hands...mist then a few times and give it time to soften. That may take care of it...or use a toothpick and very gently tease it off. JD

    Switching from veg to flower

Hi Budman, KoolBloom is a bloom booster...not a balanced bloom nutrient mix. Actually I have to backtrack (just looked it up). Gh recommends using liquid Koolbloom at beginning of bloom and later the dry. So apparently they are different formulations. I use Maxi-Bloom as flowering nute with...

    Best Light Cycle

Hi Guys, Just thought I'd pipe in. I just switched from 24 to 18 hours in veg. I was on 24hours light because I just didn't want to deal with yet another timer. I I electrically tied my seed/clone are and my main veg area together so now all on 18/6. I believe plants do better with a rest...

    Droopy clones

cheech, Lots of guys from CO here. Generally good water I hear. I'll tell you what I'm doing. I know my total ppm number but not how usable they are to plants. So I've been giving a full dosage of calmag...which is working great. No deficiencies. So from this point, I'll gradually...

    Droopy clones

cheech, I suspect that your water district only lists "contaminants"...but don't list common chemicals that are found in water that pose no danger. Safety for drinking is their thing. My community is like that too. Useless to a grower. Hey...I didn't mean to not ask anyore questions. Just...

Need help with an RO unit

Trav...I recall reading that higher output RO units can allow a bit more "leakage" of dissolved solids. Not sure where I read that. I've only used cheapo units that left maybe 30 to 40ppm which really, is no problem. JD

    Droopy clones

cheech, The number you want should be tds total disolved solids. If it's not listed...just add all those numbers. The place where I had 400ppm water was rural and farm country. Back in the dust bowl 30s...the locusts were so bad, they ate entire crops. The govt gave the farmers tons of...

Place to get best bargain on carbon filter ?

3000, My Phresh has been in service 1 year and I'm starting to notice some smell getting through. My plans are to buy some activated charcoal and replace the old stuff. In an apartment...better to err on the safe side. Hydrobuilders has a sale... Cheers, JD...

    Need Some BHO Extraction Advice

Hi Lc, Wanted to welcome you and express condolences for your loss. I'm currently learning extractions...so no expert opinions. I've done a few qwet washes and plan on trying dry ice...but no experience with bho. Good luck, JD

    Cal mag

If your humidity is back to normal now...there should be no residual stunting or anything. Just another day in the life of a plant. If you get good air movement (exchange) then your co2 will be fine. Ph is a little low. 5.8 to 6.2 is common and I've seen experienced grower go higher. Shoot...

    Droopy clones

Cheech, Some communities have good water quality reports online. Check into that. If you're under 200 to 250, you should be ok. I've grown in 400ppm water and had problems. RO by necessity. The letting the water sit thing is for the chlorine to evaporate. Chlorine isn't a problem...your...

    Droopy clones

cheech, This whole tap vs ro and calmag thing can be confusing. I've heard it said that the Ca in tap is usually in a form that isn't very accessable to plants. So you probably do need some calmag. If you look at ice cubes made with your tap water...if it's totally milky looking...that's...

    Droopy clones

Cheech, Posted before seeing those latest pix. Looking OK...meaning spots aren't too bad. Jow hard is your water? You may need some calmag...just don't know. JF

    Droopy clones

Cheech, Let me go back a sec...The panda plastic is low priority. And regarding light height...there's lots of difference between 2 and 3 feet. 2 is ok...3 seems too high, And with it turned down...maybe even lower. Far as cloning...not sure on timing for cloning in water. The little peat...

    Droopy clones

Not familiar with your light...but you can't really use your eyes as a judge. I'd crank it up some and just watch temps and for signs of light stress. Fading top leaves, etc. OK, try this... calculate how much space you have times 30 watts per sq ft. That's how much light minimum they...

    Droopy clones

cheech, The panda plastic is to get maximum reflectivity...so not just for flowering. The dark cream colored walls absorb lots of light. Can you paint the walls? Flat white. I'd stick panda plastic inder the pots too. Your choice though. Some of your taller plants could be up-potted...
