New setup - move to DWC?

I really like RDWC too. I ran it for several years, started having root rot issues I couldn't fix and switched to soilless. Now I'm in the process of switching back. You will get amazing results in RDWC if you keep your roots clean of pathogens. I haven't worked with ebb and flow but I suspect...

Trying to up my cloning game

I've used Clonex Solution, haven't noticed an increase in root time. For gel I've been using Rootech 5.5% IBA, no problems. Some aerocloners can produce an oxygen deprived environment. Adding an airstone or venturi will fix the issue. A few ccs of Hydroguard in several gallons of solution...

    Thinking about side lighting

So is it worth doing in a tent? I like to use the full space so I'm wondering if there's any point. Leaves close to the side would be right up on the LED strips, maybe getting too much light while blocking it from getting to the rest of the plant. LED strips at ground level point up? Maybe no...

Getting to the bottom of the Phosphorus question in flower

Thanks for the response! Sorry it took so long to respond I haven't logged in in a while. First, to make sure there's no confusion, the numbers I posted are just ratios not percentages, and they are based on the full line of products listed in each companies nutrient schedule so working out the...

Getting to the bottom of the Phosphorus question in flower

What I've read indicates 1-1-1 is a good "basic" or "safe" ratio. Not knocking it. It does kind of indicate that ratios like 1-4-4 are either overkill or borderline nitrogen deficient, depending on how you look at it.

Getting to the bottom of the Phosphorus question in flower

Thanks, I'm not going to use it. I'm just analyzing various brands to get at their week 4-5 bloom NPK ratios. What do you prefer (NPK ratios)?

Getting to the bottom of the Phosphorus question in flower

Cyco basic feed chart. Zyme excluded but wouldn't change the ratio 14.5-27.5-34.5 Comes out to around 1-2-2.3

Getting to the bottom of the Phosphorus question in flower

I added up the NPK values for the Flora Nova line Simple Program: 45.5-86.5-78.5 Expert Program: 55.5-91.5-113.5 Either way, close to 1-2-2

Getting to the bottom of the Phosphorus question in flower

I'm getting back into hydro and thought I would get a little more exact with specific NPK ratios rather than following one of the various nutrient schedules. A common theme I see is a N:K ratio of 1:2. It's pretty consistent across recommendations and somewhat consistent in nutrient...

    Using Silica in Hydroponics question

Thanks. I know it's not necessary but same as you it's a temp concern. I'm going to attempt a DWC at room temp. I have some reflective material but I expect the solution to get into the mid 70s if not a tad higher. I'm just surprised at how much it raises the PH. I think I can manage to keep...

    Using Silica in Hydroponics question

If I add Silica before adjusting the PH it precipitates in tap water.

    Using Silica in Hydroponics question

So I thought I would try to incorporate silica into a hydroponics solution. The product is called Armor Si. NPK 0-0-4 Along with Micro, Bloom and Cal/mag I devised a formula close to Jacks Orchid (7-5-6) I'm using tap water so the only way I can keep the silica from precipitating is to PH...

    Soil volume and containers

Okay so I've been using the Promix HP-CC exclusively and using HG Cocos A/B, PHing the feeding to 5.8. I'm on week 3 of flowering and am noticing a slight N deficiency. I just watered yesterday so I put a few pints of water on top and collected the runoff. The PH meter which was recently...

    Curing chamber build log

The small fan on the back wall pushes air through a duct that runs to the bottom of the closet so air will be circulating through the whole unit 24/7. The big fan on top kicks on when RH is high and pulls in fresh air. I was going to drill holes near the bottom but since it's not air tight I...

    Curing chamber build log

I got the closet in place and made some brackets for the hanger rods. Before I do anything else I'm going to use it as is and see what the humidity levels and smell is like. It would be difficult to make this system 100% smell proof but I could do a couple things to cut down on the smell if I...

    Curing chamber build log

The closet is mostly finished. I still need to put some weather stripping on the side edge with hinges. Basically I have two 12v power supplies, one wired to a terminal block and one wired to the humidity controller which is wired to the terminal block. One runs constantly circulating air in the...

    Curing chamber build log

So the back board for the closet is flimsy. The whole thing is about 80lbs and the back board is made of cardboard thinner than a notebook cover. I can't put a fan on it so I had to find a different material. Someone suggested corrugated plastic and after grabbing a piece I'm back on track...

    Curing chamber build log

This curing chamber will cost about $200 to build. The parts are still coming in so I will update as I go. I have a 19" wide space I want to use so I needed a cabinet that would fit there. There are a couple 16x16" broom closets I found for around $100. The one I picked was the tallest. It also...

Best way to get rid of gnat problem??

The jug I got covers a really large area so I'm only using a soda cap full for each pot. It says it works in 24 hours but since it's a live culture I suspect it needs some time to work it's way through the media. I guess I will know whether it works down the road. I don't think a heavy dose...

Best way to get rid of gnat problem??

Hmm, I'm using Mosquito Bits too. You are saying it failed as a preventative? I have read that a mild peroxide solution (.75%) will kill gnat larvae. I haven't had gnats so far so no first hand experience but it's something you might research.
