    give it a good ole dig over loosen the soil add the organic fert(fish,manure,blood and bone) whatever takes your fancy.dig that in,and water with a little molasses in the mix. the sugar will feed the microbes and get them started on doing what they do.

    you can plant in the old holes with the old soil,(i have been doing it for years) just add some good organic fertilizer and some mulch and it is back where it started from

    depends on how well you know your neighbors!!! the veggie patch is normally a good spot but i just don't like the idea of people being able to see them..

    yes you are correct i to can find a plot by tracking the smell(i dont touch it either but i do leave a note letting them know i found it) me and a few of my mates do a bit of hiking (thats how i stumble upon the plots)i get a wiff and of i go,but not one of my buddies can even follow the scent.

    if you can only water once a week give them plenty and add watercrystals to the soil(or what ever you can get to help retain a bit of water) once a week is ok not optimal but ok. when they flower you need a fert that is low in nitrogen and high in phosphorous, go to the garden center and ask...

    this is a different problem over here, we have rabbits and kangaroos to worry about. but they only touch them when they are young plants. once they get to around two feet tall they dont eat them any more. back to the deer i have a big gun and a big freezer that could use filling up..lol

    it does have a nice distinctive aroma but you have to be directly down wind to smell, and then they have to track it .(the human nose is not that good)

    yes termites can be a huge problem,I actually use a product called termimesh. it is a like a fly screen . i line the plot with that .bit expensive but it lasts forever. if you grow in pots . grease around the base also stops them(on the out side of coarse). other than that i have not tried...
