    DIY Heat Exchanger Idea

Its a excellent idea... So you are adding new tap water to cool it, right?

Would 1212's measure hotter in the center of the chip than the outer?

Great pics Wiete! Its just wat I needed! thanks guys

    Water cooled COBs

Hello Guys, does anybody know the name of the thermal paste lofty used? It looks to me like it came off nicely as he reused all those waterblocks. I have heard stuff like the Artic Silver Thermal Adhesive leaks the surface covered in hard glue thats very hard to get off - which would make the...

Copper wire thickness - Less than 18 gauge a problem?

Ok, After doing some searching, it seems it should be fine to use 21 gauge. as that still has a rating of above 7Amps If anybody has bjbs, what did you use? perhaps 18 gauge can even be pushing into the holder no problem?

Copper wire thickness - Less than 18 gauge a problem?

Im planning to use BJB holders and wire 1212's in series, however the spec states that the holders require 0.75mm copper cable. spec sheet - https://www.bjb.com/index.php?pid=397936&lid=10 Most here talk about using 18 gauge(1.02mm) losest I can get to 0.75mm is 21 gauge(0.71mm) Im planning...

    5th gen Citizen 1212 typical voltage 34.6?

Lucky I made this thread, just noticed the ELG are not so "identical" fo the HLG The ELG 1400 Max are = 239W, 171V, whereas the HLG Max are = 249W, 179V I guess the ELG's are not an option anymore, will have to go HLG route.

    5th gen Citizen 1212 typical voltage 34.6?

When I put current 1080, and Tc to 25 in editor box, I get Voltage 35.8 with Tc 38 Setting Tc to 10 in editor box, with same 1080, I get Voltage 36.2 Tc 25 EDIT : well, looking at datasheet curve, shows that voltage should be above 36 once hitting above 1200mA

    5th gen Citizen 1212 typical voltage 34.6?

Datasheet : http://ce.citizen.co.jp/lighting_led/dl_data/datasheet/en/COB_5/CLU048-1212C4_P3551_0216.pdf The Citizen 5th Gen 3000k Below BBL datasheet states that the Typ voltage is 34.6, whereas the 5th Gen selection tool gives a Voltage reading of 36.9 for 1350mA. What voltage should I...

Would 1212's measure hotter in the center of the chip than the outer?

Hey, Those heatsink laws sound correct, however Im assuming the cob itself(regardles of heatsink) would be hotter in the center because thats where the largest cluster of leds are. Want to know for heat managment purposes for a horizontal mounted cob.

Would 1212's measure hotter in the center of the chip than the outer?

Regarding Citizen 1212 Cobs. in above diagram where the center red = hottest, and moving outwards from there gets colder temps Is the above somewhat accurate? I dont own any chips to test. Thanks!

    DIY Heat Exchanger Idea

xDDD hahaha Next improvment you can put switch route on the pump pipe and divert it to make a mini wave machine in the bath? when your LEDS are off ofcourse... Hmm, its a good question...

Yeah, was gona suggest the same, Also regarding your pic, why dont you make the shroud bigger?

    DIY Heat Exchanger Idea

What pump is that? Iv never seen a 50W pump at 4000lph, most 50w I seen are in the 2500 lph range. Also how many cobs are you pushing water over with that sort of lph?

    Can I run 5 x 1212 at 50w each on HLG-240-C1400A?

Hmm, I cud run them lower like you guys say, but I dont want to go below 45w per cob.

    Can I run 5 x 1212 at 50w each on HLG-240-C1400A?

Ive read multiple times now that MeanWell are conservative with there ratings, but I want to make sure before I puchase. I was planning to run each 1212 at 36v * 1350A = 48w, however a freind here mentioned thats its really pushing the driver and recommneded only 4 * 50w per 1 HLG240w. The...

    Heatsink machining drawing

Anyways, this whole debate mite aswell be ended. I think the original debate was the colour of anodization, not anodization itself lol.

    Heatsink machining drawing

@Danielson999 Its at a small level but because it's over the entire heatsink, its worthwhile.

    Heatsink machining drawing

@Danielson999 From an anodized perspective it is irrelevant if you use the heatsink w/o a fan, its scientifically proven that anodizing increases the surface area, so a anodized heatsink being better than a non anodized one is still correct. Your right that in our uses cases, the differences...
