What driver would I use to run 3 CXB3590 CD @ 1.4A. I am aiming for around 50% efficiency. If I have to I'll run them separately, but It would be good if I can run them all together with on driver with high efficiency.

I am thinking over the concept (of my life:P) Could 5 x Cree CXB3590 3500K CD @ 1.4A cover 2x4ft space. They would put out 245 Dissp.W at over 50% efficiency I'll have over 15 PAR W per square foot. What do you guys think? Can I cover 4X8ft space with for of those?>

I haven't given up on the DIY project. I just wanted to explore other cheap options, which apparently don't exist without sacrificing a lot of efficiency. I give up on trying to find a cheap light that would give me performance close to the CXBs.

I might if someone shared some exp. with the lights. Or of course take them apart in a one-liner about the frequency or the spectrum... not sure that I really got the joke.

I haven't yet. I talked with the suppliers he says they are out of them, but they'll have a new shipment on the 17th of july, or something like that. I still have time until my project starts. For now I'm just gathering info on the parts I'll need. I hope what I found helps.
