Nice. I just harvested some plants that I grew in a bubbler, and they also drank tons of water. I was wondering how the hell they did it until I saw the stems were totally hollow, literally like straws! In fact I did use one as a straw :mrgreen:

Good news! I found I can get 1000 watt ballasts for a fraction more than I was paying for the 400's. I'm going to get 3 but use 600 watt bulbs for now since I also don't have adequate cooling yet. I also got hold of a decent camera so I can at least take pics and get advice from this forum...

I am also using warehouse style ballasts, work out a lot cheaper to purchase. Problem is the biggest I can get is 400, currently I have 7 of them :( I paid the equivalent to $60 each brand new and $10 for a philips bulb which is a LOT cheaper than our local grow shop.

Wow! Very nice going there! I know for a fact I could never get anywhere near that, even with three 400's. Interestingly I have done a grow recently where I hung my bulb vertically, I had some Sativas all in various stages of budding that I placed in a circle around the bulb. That was in pots...

Even if I use fairly large clones? I see I said 'planted' in my original post which sounds like I planted seeds but I actually used clones that were already quite large. Just want to make sure we're on the same page :)

I never realized how much better a 600 or 1000 watter is. I suppose I could sell my ballasts and replace them if it's going to make such a big difference. I never started a journal because I'm a bit paranoid but may just do that, thanks for the advice.

They could have been a bit bigger, cant remember exactly and I never really measure but I know that they grew big, at least 26 inches tall. I'll attach the pic again, that bud alone was 12 inches long which is why I dont think vegging time was my problem here.

The res temps have been quite cool, around 16 to 18 deg celsius. I did notice the roots were only growing along the sides where the long air stones were placed, with no growth in the center, so I think adding more air stones will allow for more roots to grow. But I am definitely going to keep...

So you think one 45 liter tank per 4 plants is too little? Or I should grow smaller plants, that is what I am planning to do next grow. Maybe veg for one week only.

Here is a pic, (the only one I got) of the biggest plant. That plants' cola weighed in at 28 grams and it had lots of side buds as well, the plant that was behind it barely grew at all. Most of the yield came from 4 of the bigger plants.

Yeah I see that 600watt bulbs are most efficient but the thing is I only have 400 watt ballasts which I get for very cheap.

I was using 800 watts for flowering and 400 for vegging.

Yes it could be the same, very fruity aroma. Unfortunately I lost the mother plant but I do have one seed that is busy growing so hopefully it's a girl. Harvesting in 3 days.

Just thought I would share my first hydro grow, the strain is Ice and I'm using DWC combined with a drip system and a reservoir. Sorry about the bad pic (my camera is really crap) but as you can (hopefully) see I had some browning of the leaves which I think may be from not having enough...

Good idea, i will do that.

Shot, I think I may just take one clone to veg into a mother plant, that way I wont upset the plants too much. Also they are in a bubbler and a few days from switching so I think one or two clones should save me buying seed again, which is the goal here.
