I've heard of people doing that, but I like Neem Oil. Neem Oil is organic and you can use it up to a week before harvest. 8o)

For bugs...I use Neem Oil. It works like a charm. I usually spray them every 7 days with Neem only, but given the growth rate of my plants I spay them every 3 days now. I soak them in Neem Oil then come back 3 days later and soak them in compost tea. This helps them build their own bio film...
