Stems Splitting -- maybe a nute def?

Hey all, On a couple of my outdoor plants I'm seeing a few stems split -- not all the way through, and not enough to break the stem, but it is significant. A couple of bad cell phone pictures are below...you can see that there's a significant amount of the cortex/pith/etc (the inside of the...

Problem with my Mommas, leaving me stumped...

Well I lost the one pictured, but she probably only had a couple months left in her anyway....and cuz of your advice I saved the next one it happened to! So thanks much. Maybe a bonehead question: what's the difference between RDWC and ebb&grow bucket systems? Both use res + controller...

How should I clean my hydroton/clay pebbles??

Cleaning hydroton is the bane of my existence....and I've never found a great answer....I think having a cement mixer or washing machine dedicated to 'tron would be the best solution. The best bad solution I've found is to make sure you've got enough extra to let it sit for like a month after...

Problem with my Mommas, leaving me stumped...

Waaaaayyyy late replying on this....but wanted to check in and say thanks to everyone who sounded off...it turned out this was the problem: heavy water use caused nutes to get to concentrated, ph fluctuation stressed 'em out. I'm surprised because while I've seen ph issues stress plants outs...

Problem with my Mommas, leaving me stumped...

I've got my mommas running in DIY DWC buckets. Everything works alright, except occasionally, like once every two months maybe, one of my mommas will just dry up and die on me! She'll start looking droopy, like she's not getting water (even though she of course is), and then she'll just dry...

    RDWC Refill/Flush Help Please

I used to be a big no flush guy, and of course I'd never flush an organic soil crop, but I flushed half a hydro crop last year -- 'cuz I ran out of nutes at the very end -- and it cured better and burned better. I then noticed on my next run that stuff I didn't flush had more of a perfume-y...

    Alternatives for hydroton clay?

Hey guys, way late to this, but has anyone heard of something called "light-crete" used in lieu of hydroton? Light crete is used apparently as filler for poured concrete slabs on upper stories of buildings, and a retired contractor said hydroton is almost identicial to light-crete...which got...

Weird PH drift with low pressure aero set up

Hey all... I'm doing a couple of trays of low-pressure/oakie aeroponic. This is the first time I've done this style for flower; I usually do flood & drain. I'm now about a month into flower and things are looking awesome. However, since day one my ph has been drifting consistently down...

    gas water pump?

Yeah...but the real bitch was dealing with all the pressure built up over 800 feet of drop. Needed to plug in the line to cross the creek every time I filled the tank. Wound up using 1.25 in PVC to handle the pressure -- polypipe just wasn't gonna cut it. I was very proud of that oakie...

Resurrecting a harvested plant for clones....

Taking plant from outdoor to indoor is a potential major vector for pests. The only way I'll take clones from outdoors inside is if I can dunk them in Avid or Flouramite or some other nasty toxic stuff. You can't do that with a full plant. Revegging a harvested plant is totally doable, and...

    doublejj Carport Greenhouse discussion thread

God damn it. I'm just putting the finishing touches on my greenhouse, made out of chain link fence top rail, today. It cost me real money, and a ton of time, because I couldn't find anything that would fit my 32'x12'6" space well. Sigh.

    lakeport city california

It's not legal to cultivate cannabis anywhere in the United States. Cannabis is a schedule one controlled substance under federal law. And in my experience, Lake County Sheriff's are pretty tight about what they consider 'medical need' under prop 215. IDK if there are local ordinances...

    gas water pump?

You know how they say there's no such thing as a stupid question? They're wrong. This is a stupid question. Appropriate stats for any pump are going to be head and flow. Combined they produce a chart like this: Don't forget that if you're pulling up from a creek to the pump that lift...

    Sexing plants

The rush is less time, energy, and space spent on males. I agree that I usually will sex 'em at about a month if I go from seed, but when my friend asked why I couldn't tell him anything except 'that's how I've always done it.'

    Sexing plants

Hey all, I've got a buddy with a bunch of babies grown from seed. He plans on shocking them into showing sex by putting them under 12/12 lighting for a week. If you've used this technique to sex your babies, how early can you do it? I've done this with plants when they're about a foot tall...

    Reserva Privada Kandy Kush review?

Yeah Kandi is in some ways awesome, in some ways frustrating, but everyone LOVES it. The good: that taste, that smell. It's got this awesome sweet smell that can only be described as fruity -- only way more like real fruit than most 'fruity' smells. It actually smells a little like...

Building a LEAK PROOF aero cloner!

I know this thread is older than dirt...but gotta give you props for this idea. Leaking cloners have been the bane of my existence for months. I had to replace part of a subfloor in my nursery because of it. I've tried everything from clamps (worked about 50%) to just putting the cloners in...

    CO2 off of furnace?

Yes it is possible. It's actually fairly simple to do. It's just that it's difficult to do in a way that won't kill your whole family doing it. My suggestion is that if you had to ask that question here than you shouldn't mess with it at all. Please.

Why flushing is a myth yes and no explained!

Randomly, on the herb I just harvested, I flushed half of it. It's the first time I've ever flushed anything in ~20 years of growing. For the last 10 days before harvest: 25% of my girls got nothing but water PH'd to 5.8 (i know, no need, but I can't put anything in my reservoir that's...

H2o2, please help me, buying Q

You can use 3% H2O2 no problem, but there's no substitute for cooling your res. Unless you're industrial size, I'd consider moving reservoir out of the room before I spent the money on a chiller. The extra pump, hose, and hassle is probably a lot cheaper than $400.
