    cfl is great you should try to surround the plant with bulbs on the sides and the top but they can be 4 - 5 inches away from any leaves and you will still get awesome results...

    how tall are your plants dude and how old also i would suggest you put some cfl's around your plant to give it a nice 360 light around all leaves the more light the better and actually i prefer to use more cfl's closer to the fan leaves than one single 400w light ....much better results.

    If possible you should lower those lights cfls WILL do the job from seed to bud but they must be a lot closer 2-4 inches away from the top leaves atleast and lost of side bulbs will only yield more bud good thing about cfls is you can put a lot of them and cover the whole foliage better then HID...

    CFL's are stupid. I took them down.

    I prefer cfls the spiral ones their lumens output is awesome and if you can custom build a lighting system that can be placed inches away from the top leaves you can get some really good bud its all about how close the light is to the leaves and also i can have both red spectrum for flowering...

    Ok the best advice i can give you is if your using cfl's then keep the light within a couple of inches of the top fan leaves and the more cfls you can put around the plant the better the idea is to cover the plant with high intensity 360 degrees around the plant dont worry about temp with cfls...
