i think of a seedling as a delicate plant with a soft stem. as soon the plant starts rapid growth and gets a firm looking green stem it's in full veg (not a seedling anymore) and ready for some nutes

it's called "pre-flowering" and it happens when the plant is near the end of the veg stage or has the right hormones to flower (which is when the plant is 2-3 months old). lots of growers don't 12/12 until preflowers appear. ... google it and you'll see good pics. not sure how long you can...

bottled water should be fine. most bottled water is filtered using a process that removes chlorine and minerals from the water which is a good thing. if you do use tap water that comes from a water treatment plant (city water with chlorine) leave it in a bucket or pitcher or something...

make sure you are not giving the clones too much light.....gentle light for the first couple of weeks til rooted (leave it alone and don't check for roots for at least 10 days...2-3 weeks is better). when i first took clones my 400w metal halide hid was killing them 2-3 ft away...
