How long did you let the Kryptonite veg for?

Just was in the coffee shop in Oaksterdam the other day and choose the same two strains, Deadhead OG and Kryptonite, before I even saw this post!

For a little over a month, it's a good strain if you have limited space. It grows short and stout (doubled in height when flowered), and is quite resinous. I would go by what the little picture reads and veg it for a while, it grows pretty slow but makes up for it with a short flowering time.

It'd been too long since anyone posted here.

Ugh... those last few weeks are torture. Watching them plump and ripen. I still have 4 more weeks, give or take, but you're getting close man. Less than 20 days now!

I need to invent one of those Countdown to Christmas things, you know, where you open a little door or window on it each day... Except for harvest day.

I'll be coming to SoCal this summer. Not sure what I'm going to be doing... Maybe visit some family in San Clemente, then head over to Vegas for a time. Hopefully sometime around then you and I can plan out a little genetics exchange. My mutant Sensi Star is proving to be SPECIAL, with extreme tolerance to high ppm levels and really nice crystals at 5 weeks from 12/12. Can't wait to smoke her.

Hell, I just want to smoke you out. This grow has been most epic thus far and the process has been most fulfilling.
Snoogins.

I know what you mean weeks 5 thru 9 are like slow death, but then the flush comes and you are alive once again, and the the dry and it's slow death again, and then the cure, I mean come on enough already..and before you know it half your shit be gone by the time it's cured good..lol but we all love it so we put up with it..lol

Sorry, it's been a couple days since I've posted, things have been busy for me. I now have a drying chamber in the cabinets above my closet, was an adventure cleaning it out. I found some shit from the 40s up there as well as an old ball and cap revolver.. Did more topping on the veggers, they have 2 weeks before a couple hit the ground running in the garden of weeden flowering room. Took clones off a Panchota clone, took 9 days to root with clonex (fastest yet) and is now clearly a keeper strain.

Rofl, snoogins! You never update your grow so I keep forgetting what you have. Wappa, Warlock, Sensi Star, your named strain, off the top of my head, I need to go look through what you have again.. but trading some clones sounds great. I'll probably have some new strains by then as I'll be weening out the weak and trying out new strains till I find 4 keepers.

Chopping Kyp down on Friday, Rom in the middle of the week and the rest at day 56 (next Friday). Pan might take an additional week as her hairs have just started to turn yesterday. Everything is leaching at this point. I did a hard flush on Kyp and Rom, I just put them outside with the hose on super low and let it for like like 30-40 min. I took a couple gallons of pH'd water at 6.1 to finish them off.

A seshie would be cool, you could meet Mr. HMK himself as well.

Started the flush on everything yesterday and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Too bad the light was just another brighter tunnel and the wait for drying and curing happens. You're all too right man, and it's really evident at my first harvest.

I already know most of the stuff I'm harvesting now will never get a really good cure before it's gone. Harvesting every other week though and there should come a point wher I have enough to wait till stuff is properly cured before I ever get my grubby hands on it. I'll have to create a perpetual curing cycle and stuff won't be touched till the jars are ready and have a good 3-4 week cure on them.

Just looked through, that Sister Mary you found in the Lemon Skunk sounds promising, the mutant Sensi Star as well.

So the ones you just topped your only letting veg for 2 more weeks...you must not have taken much off the top. That still seems an odd way to clone to me but glad it's working for you....I've already got plans on doing a SCROG next grow so all the top branches will just be put under the netting.

The Sister Mary number 3 is the most resinous plant in the garden at the moment. Wappa is a close second place, and Sensi Star right there too.

As it turned out, Sister Mary 1, 2, and 3 are all from my DNA Genetics Cole Train (SSH Jasmine x Arcata Trainwreck). Sister Mary 4 is from my Greenhouse Seeds Lemon Skunk, but I think the flower structure looks a little more like the Cole Train, so that was probably where the male pollen came from.

My Sour Kush is tanked. I still have it around... but it has stopped throwing out new flowers and has decided to go yellow on me. Just all fucking pissed off. Not a single other plant looks that way so I'm going to have to blame the genetics in this case. The Sour Cream is looking okay though... not great, but okay.

I'm still running about 1.4 EC but have changed my ratios to include a lot more PK now that I'm in week 5. I'll do a big PK boost at the very start of week 6. Then I'm going to be cutting the nutes back to a 1.1EC through the end of 6 and 7. Week 8 will be all water. Right now I'm debating using my Emerald Triangle Gravity Flower Hardener just after the PK boost. Used it before with good results but the bottle I have is a little over a year old...

Here are some Macro shots from day 38 (today)

I'll be updating my Journal later on today with the entire month of January (I update monthly most of the time) so you can see some garden shots when you get around to it. I have to re-install my OS today, so it'll be after I get it all transfered over. Maybe later tonight. I could use a macro shot of each plant also, so I'll try to get a few more of these around later too. A lot of purple starting to creep in all over the place... A lot of yellow too.

Finally soooo glad to have a grip on salt toxicity. It is unfortunate that my Canna Coco was so loaded because it makes my garden look hella ugly now. I have some leaves that burned and recovered, pretty funny looking actually. Live and learn... Even now, 4 weeks after the initial burn symptoms show, I'm still washing out 200 to 500ppm with every watering when I measure my run off EC. Just a TON of crap in there.

Hey man they are all still looking good to me, suck's about your SK is it all the way unsaveable ? what do you think it is root bound nute lockout?

The Sour Kush was bootsy the entire grow. Just all fucking huffy, not vigorous, minimal side-branch development, uneven growth.

Compared to everything else... there's just no reason for it to be like this. I knew there would be some difficult genetics in there which is why I chose so many strains for my 1000w coco grow.

Let me put it this way... It doesn't use more than 1 gallon of moisture A WEEK... while my Sensi Star uses a gallon in under 2 days. I started pampering the plant 4 weeks ago and it's just not having it.

Not all plants grow to be the biggest and baddest. This seed I got as a Fem'd freebie, and it is definitely not growing up to be anything special.
After a little experience with DNA I can safely say that some of their stuff is good, some of it is bad. They are really hit and miss. I still have some Rock Lock from them... but if I go back to them it'll be the Reserva Privada line.

I love, love, love their Kandy Kush x Skunk #1 and seriously NOBODY is growing it. Amazing being that you get 13 beans, and a bonus 13 pure afghan beans, plus attitude freebies, for under $100 shipped and I hear no interest in it. Oh well... More for me :)!!!

Come on man dont make me feel so bad about not getting the Knady Kush i just had XMas and two Birthdays in less then 30 days im cooked for a while..lol But that is a deal for all deals...How much different is the reg KK to the KK skunk mix?

I haven't grown the reg Kandy Kush but from what I see and hear it is less stanky. My KKxSkunk looked JUST like the photos they have of it on the site. It has this pink tint to it. Smells/Tastes like the illegitimate love child of Cotton Candy and Sour Skittles. The high is psychedelic and stupefying.

I have some pictures around but I just cleaned off my hard drive so I can reformat. I'll throw them up later so you can get a gander at 'em.

Alright, got my chop situation all figured out~ Kryptonite comes down tomorrow! I'll be hanging the plant over a rafter in the garage at chest height to defoliate over some plastic. Then it's to the table to get manicured over some glass to catch kief. I'll be keeping the sugar leaf trimming for either hash or joints, we'll see. Have a bunch of hooks made from old ass wire to hang the larger buds and the suspended laundry bag thing for the smaller buds in the recently made drying room. I'll get some decent bud shots in the daylight for you all tomorrow. Shes a sparkly lady. Smells like grape candy and pepper at the moment.

What I try to do is harvest it, then trim off anything with a stem that I can see. I prefer to leave the sugar leaves on until I trim right before jarring.

I have a tendency to leave my buds a little "messy" until I finally get around to breaking it up. I just keep a jar for the trim leaves that I pull off of nugs just before packing or rolling them.

I read once that old school growers just hack and hang their stuff. I didn't really buy into that but I figured leaving a little leaf around the buds should help them dry evenly.

Hard part is over though.

Congratulations!

I keep reading that if you leave the sugar leaf on while drying it's harder to take off later as they fold down and stick to each other. I can try a few nugs with and without to see if there is a noticeable difference in trim time and quality. There are also differing opinions that leaving those leaves on make the bud sweeter while others say it makes it taste more plant like.

My mom and dad used to grow old school in the backyard and shit and my mom was asking weeks ago if I was going to hack it down. They used to hang the whole plant upside down in a plastic garbage bag. They smoked the whole plant.. crazies.

how do you feel about Coco Fiber medium vs. soil? more waterings? I've been trying to do a little bit of reading on it.

It wasn't topping in the take a clone off the top sense. I'm just pinching off the top growing nodes on stems that are getting above the others in the canopy. I try to get the tops where there are 2 nodes very close together. I'm getting 2 nodes in the place of one and allowing lower branches to catch up to the canopy, win win imo.

I won't be cloning the way I did the the first time anymore. That kind of topping was a little overboard for my taste and you don't get a consistent canopy. The clones taken off the top of a 18" plant take a looong time to root as well, up to a month on the Kryptonite. I now take clones from lower branches on the plant as I would have removed that stuff at the beginning of flowering anyways. The lower you take a clone on a plant the more chance it has to root. The top of the plant contains too much nutrients and the thing lives off itself for weeks.

I believe you do have to water more in coco, but it would all depend on the amount of drainage material you cut you soil with as well. I'm in 2 gallon pots (pure coco) and I'm hand watering once every 2 days now in late flowering. In a 3 gallon pot it would probably be like every 3rd day.

I like the fact that with coco you know exactly what your plants are getting like in a hydroponic system. What hydroponics are missing is a place to set up a beneficial bacteria/fungus colony in your media. Coco is the best of both worlds in my opinion.
