I think its personnel choice...it all depends on why your growing...like sarah for instance is growing solely for herself..and wants to grow a larger variety of strains at once..i completely understand that..I believe everyone in this forum knows that for optimal results you you should veg(18/6) for so many weeks and then go to 12/12..but you gotta remember weed is exactly that..weed..its not rocket science even though many make it out to be that..there are places in the world that never reach a perfect 18/6 light cycle outside and a few that are happy to see 12/12..but people there are growing killer bud outside...give the plant the best environment you can and let it do its thing..it will adapt...

I mean for me yeah..I would never do straight from 12/12...but thats me..not saying it cant be done..as it seems to be proved by the others..I just like to have that time for my plants to be topped and allow the stems to get super thick...like they say thicker stems=thicker buds....but if you are extremely limited to space its really not much different than doing a small SOG...i will be interested to see some pics down the road on this..

im doing a "side by side" veg/flower cfl grow, i had 100% germ rate so i had a extra, thew it in 12/12 instead of 24/0 (small stealth) and the shoots are all most out, its the same size as others in veg, looks great and @ 3+ weeks.

so, i see no difference YET

its not a bad idea at all...my plants are fine.

It's a bad idea if you like to do things half assed then go ahead.

If you are out to provide optimal conditions to grow the best smoke possible then you simply don't do it that way.

Seems like the situation is that years ago everyone was doing their best to provide the best conditions, to get the best plants, to produce the best smoke.

Now it seems like the next generation of kids is coming in and all they care about is how fast they can get it done. Doesn't matter if the plant growth is awful, if the smoke is poor quality, the only thing important is how quick can you get it done.

This is why it's hard to buy good weed nowadays and a lot of people are going back to growing their own. They know the difference between what is being sold and what is actually possible.

Why is that ?
:joint:
i have done 12-12 from seed and i dont c that quality should suffer, i have found the bud just as potent, have you tried? also it isnt just new kids doing it cause im 47. there are many ways that you can grow and i assume they all have their merits. i have only 1 grow cupboard so def works for me.

exactly..i agree. i also like this method for my first grow *because* the plants will stay on the smaller side. that makes it easier for me to take care of them and get some experience under my belt.

dont mind him, he's kind of moronic. i see his postings in alot of the forums. i think he posts sometimes, just to post. he's clearly an amateur, one of those guys that you read about who gives bad advice, just to give advice. growing from 12/12 is actually very common if you want smaller plants to fit in a confined space or more plants per cubic meter.

just finshed 2 plants on 12/12, ofcourse yeild is low but quality great(genetics not size). took 3 weeks to show signs. one was indica and one stativa(grew twice as big as indica)I did it to get a feel for these strains and i got seeds out of it. if i would not have grown 12/12 i would have billions of seeds

im really liking the 12/12 from seed...and ur right batman skunk...it is a lot more common than people think...i mean...the guy in the hi times store had never even heard of it...but then when u search it online, theres lots of people growing this way. i think its a really good way for a newb to get a feel for growing cuz the plants are smaller and easier to manage...i think im gonna work on a perpetual grow...just keep the lights on 12/12 all the time and just plant new seeds every week or 2...then once i have some good strains i'll start cloning :D

Unless you are just trying to get rid of seeds I'd jut start cloning now. You can get plenty of starts off of the plants you are growing now. Then keep doing it that way or decide if you want to have one mother plant you wish to keep alive and get clones from.
