14 days since germination... only on 2nd set of leaves

My plants are about 2 inches tall. Its been two weeks since germination. I see other plants on here that are pretty big at that stage. Am I doing something wrong? Not watering enough?

Whats the seed and whats ur heat at. High heat stunts growth, Lights being too far away or insufficient stunts growth, lack of Nitrogen stunts growth, poor genetics, and so on.....

true, but usually.. when lights are too far away from the tops of the plants or plant.. this tends to lead to stretching of the plant.. and its nodes.

Which neither one of those is good to have.. ;)

Tight nodes.. and no stretching of the plant.. is what you want.

I am not sure of the heat exactly. I had it in a 3 foot wide, 2 foot deep, 4 foot high grow tent with a 400 watt. I was keeping it sealed up so maybe too hot. I just opened it up and leaving it open. I PH my water every time so I assume the nitrogen levels are ok?

I had the light about 1 foot and a half away but I raised it up to about 2.5 feet because it was burning the 2 under it.

The strain is Big Bud.
 
I had that problem as well. Some strains take a while to really get going. I'll show you an example:

i'm having a similar issue, i'm pretty sure that the heat is participating in that too, altho i haveem under fluros, i'm in mid summer here, im on day 22 still they lookin like babies
 
I noticed you said on your other post you started with miracle grow organic.... so that sucks ass huh? I am using that now. I wonder if I should change soil immediately.

I learned to put my plants into bigger pots earlier. I had them in little peat pots too long, but once they went into larger pots the took off like rockets.

Edit: I'm using Jungle Growth moisture control with extra perlite mixed in and feedings every other watering. so far so good.
 
Im using Miracle grow organic and so far my shits good the nutes are very very low in it, I mix my own perlite and peat to it tho. HEAT is most likely the issue. other than that its just strain trait.....

Yes I started off the grow with the organic stuff, but realized you're actually supposed to buffer that with native soil (It acts somewhat like perlite). So I watering way too frequently. Finally switched to Ocean Forest from FF and the plants really took off. I highly recommend driving 50 miles if you have to get that soil. Or make your own...
 
I always feel like in the beginning my plants are growing really slow but then by the fourth week they are always like a foot tall. Its weird how all of the sudden they will take off just relax and give them some time.
 
I really don't recommend that MGOC. I Had a bad experience with it in the past just like you and came to RIU to ask what was wrong with my plant and they told me the soil sucked and I changed to FFHF where my plants finished up. I thought maybe I was wrong and gave it another chance. My plants all looked like crap afterwards and after I bought perlite it was more expensive than FFOF. I really love the OF too(even if it does come with some fungus gnats), it has a great consistency and my plants love it I recommend you repot them ASAP and I'm sure it will pick up quick.

I completely agree. My seedlings grew ok in the MGOC, but growth slowed after day 6. Almost no growth at day 10. As soon as I transplanted to FFOF the plants were growing half an inch a day and getting very bushy.
 
It seems that this whole forum is big on Fox Farm so I ordered the ocean forest organic for overnight delivery. I will re-pot as soon as it arrives. Thanks guys for the help. I hope this helps. I am a bit fearful of re-potting because I don't want to stress and lose the plants. Should I fill the pot with the new soil and just dig enough out of the old so the roots are not exposed and put then in the new soil or does that not matter? Sorry for the newbie questions. This is my first grow and learning as I go. This forum has been my life line.
 
I think the MG organic choice soil is a great product, but it must be mixed with something else when being used in container grows for more aeration.

For example 40% MGOC + 40% Peat / Coir / ProMix + 20% Perlite....

OK I just got the Fox Farm Ocean Forest or whatever and transplanted my small little guys to that from the MGOC...been very little growth in the week while I waited for it. When I transplanted there were not many roots to deal with and they were exposed very little in the process. However, on a few, roots had extended down further and I basically cut them off pulling them out of the old soil. Is that ok? I saw where people said they have trimmed roots in hydro so this would be like the same effect right?
 
transplanting will further slow them down for few days but thats ok, once the roots grow again they will resume growing
