Atombomb is somewhat correct...

CFLs WILL give you buds. That is no lie.

I must say though, if you look at Atom's first image there are 13 CFLs in view. He likely has more than that. Even at say, $6 bucks a pop per light (low-balling here) that is 13x$6=$78... Also, the distance between the CFLs and the plants causes disapation of lumens....

So, realistically one could get (2) 150w econos... pump a joint 300w from them... for under the price that Atom paid... (at least $78 for CFL VS $64 econo) and it would have better penetration.

Im not all for HPS and against CFL.. I think CFL hold their own... Just want to mention it in a more price efficient manner.

I wanted to do CFL throughout my entire grow.. but while measuring the prices and the fact that I could kick a cooltube on my 150w econo.. then I wouldnt have to deal with the heat from 13 42w CFL bulbs.. it made more financial and heat efficient sense to do the hps...

just my 2 cents

most definitely have to agree..CFLs are kinda expensive when you compare to the econolight..I was at home depot a week ago and almost bought some CFLs for supplemental and then said "fuck it" and ordered another econolight...Now I gots 2 cooltubes...

she still seems behind in yield and trichome production, it is dirt brown bagseed though so who knows how frosty it will get.

also having an issue with leaves yellowing/dying off rapidly...

growing in MG organic soil, using full strength 10-15-10 with every other watering, leaves turn yellow (chlorotic) and turn up... i've already lost two sets of big fan leaves and some undergrowth this way, leaves in close proximity to buds seem to be doing fine so i dont know if this is a problem.

just performed a flush followed by 150% strength nutes to address low N?

smaller plant has been flowering for about 3 weeks now... just started showing pistils last week. it has been losing lower leaves as well.

the baby plant is papaver somniferum:grin:

Luckily I waited for sales and got good deals on my lights. Including cords, light strip timer, fixture, bulbs, and a fan I have less than $110 in my room. I also have roughly 35000 lumens if they add up, I only have 14 cfls, Yeah its alot but 2 150w HPS lights would need $100s in air moving equip to keep it cool in there. and reflectors, Real growing bulbs ,not the street light bulb,s and so on. so It just is not worth it to me.....YET When I expand I will go 400w HPS for flower and all my lovely CFLs for vegg

vertical photo that my cam phone got screwed up on. the light is 150w HPS, the distance is around 14"

right side of room, more cfl's every cfl pictured is 23w 6500k lumens for a total of 6 cfls

what do you guys think of the setup?

you have to unscrew the socket from the ballast, cut the black and white wires...

get a two prong extension cord, strip the ends. Connect the black and white wires to the extension cord. Make sure you keep black with black and white with white. Connect the wires with a connecter, and BAM!! there ya have it..you also need to get a 3 prong extension cord to hook up the power supply. Just a lil cutting a splicing is all you need to do.

Meh....

nah man jus' playin'. It looks like it will suit quite a few healthy grows for you. I love that you can still see the creases in the Mylar paper, shows it's still fresh.

What strain are you growing? Have you thought about doing a grow journal?
