This has been done before, and it works. But is it worth the trouble, hard to say. The plants respond to the 12 hours of darkness, even if the lights are on for more than 12. This extended daylight will add days to your flower cycle, and constantly change the hours that you can work in your room with the lights on.
I have seen at least one controller that allowed you to set your own intervals, like 18/12.
What I wondered about, what if you sped things up for weeks 1-3 of flower, then gave the 18 hour days for weeks 4-8.
