1st Hydroponic Experiment (Bag Seeds) Hydro Experts STEP IN!!!

umm..yeh thats weird. They are all in the same tub correct? (looks that way) Im not experienced with hydro but it looks like you may have nutrient lock...the white stuff my be salts that build up, making it harder for the plant to take in what it needs...did you ever try the peroxide mix?

You need to use hydro nutes with hydroton, and without a PPM and PH meter, it's going to be REALLY hard for you to grow your plants for the first time. Get the Canna Aqua line or the CNS17 line. Also, did you make sure you cleaned the hell out of your hydroton before using it? That'd cause other problems.

If you get your nutes and meters and keep the pH around 5.8 - 6.0 and ppm low, like 300 for as big as your plants are now, you'll be good.

Okay Today is 24 And the plants are doing great. Ive changed around most of my setup. I went with a Dual Chamber setup that I decided to create myself. I used the chiller system out of a water dispenser. You can view my pictures and see what I have in the setup. I also made a hood and new light setup. 6 6500k CFL's and a 2ft black light. 18 hrs CFL's and 6 hrs of Black Light. I also bought the 3 pack of Fox Farm Nutrients. I need help on how much nutrients to use because the directions on the bottles arent very descriptive. For right now I used 1/2 cup of Big Bloom and 9 Teaspoons of Grow big for now. I Really dont now how much to use. I have a ph tester with up and down but I dont have a ppm meter yet but its in the mail.

I installed a operating fan in the attic to suck all of the smell out of the closet and it works great. The water tempature in the tank stays around 68 degress. When the lights are on the room is around 80 degrees. I leave my room fan on constant. Here are my questions.

How much nutrients should I use for 12 gallons?
Should my fan run constant?
How many cfls should I properly use?
What should my ppm level be at when I get the meter?
What do you think about my setup so far?

I made a diagram and I took a few pictures to show you

Hey man. It looks like you're coming along pretty well. I'd honestly recommend going with the Canna Aqua line for nutrients for your setup, and they're cheap - like 27bucks total for the two bottles that should last through veg and bloom. But either way, no matter what nutrients you use, start off very light. Give them like a third of the recommended dosage, or a little lower. When your PPM meter arrives, start em off at like 300 - 400 and rise as needed.

I think your plants are getting enough light for that area, but you can always get a light meter and take a reading outside and take a reading in your chamber and compare. And yeah, run the fan constantly. Air circulation is great.

Canna Aqua is the Canna line for hydroponics and will work really well with your system. I'd definitely recommend it to you, and my hydroponic guy would recommend it to you, but it's up to you on the nutes you want to use.

Yea they did and now my problem is that im getting root bound in 5 of my pots. I have 1 net pot and I made the rest out of glad cups and drilled holes. the rest of my net pots should be in the mail tomorrow. Is it possible to transplant. I already have roots growing in the water.

Yeah. It's definitely possible to transplant. Just be as gentle as you can and hold it by the bottom of the stem...but if you have holes cut in the bottom of your things, they should find them and grow out of them.

Baked are you being sarcastic? And Here are some more detailed pictures for you guys. I wonder why its only you two commenting on the journal?

Sorry for the Doubles guys but look and see my root situation. My only plant that is in the net pot is the biggest out of them all. Im guessing its due to less root restriction. Any ideas?

Plant with biggest root development will be the biggest plant for sure. I'd transplant them into net pots when you get them just to keep it even. You can also turn the light off for 6 hours a day instead of having that other light, though whatever floats your boat.

once the plant is out of the water how long do I have to transplant? And can you guys help me with selling prices or is that not allowed on the forum?

The roots will be fine as long as you don't let them dry out. Mainly you need to be gentle with the roots because if you tear any you stress the plant and it makes the plant more susceptible to problems. When you get the netpots fill one with hydroton and then rinse it thoroughly until the water runs clear. Then take another and add about an inch or two of clean hydroton in the bottom. Spread the roots out over the hydroton and then slowly fill the rest up with hydroton. Be sure to give your lower leaves enough room to breath above the hydroton. You could just hang the roots through the holes in the net cup but I have found that more of a rootball inside the net cup will eventually give you more pronounced roots. More roots = more harvest.

And btw I believe your running 6 23 watt cfls so I wouldn't be planning on selling lol I would be planning my next grow and how I was gonna smoke that stuff

Ive been reading on the forums and I dont think the cfls are gonna do the trick. What kind of lighting system should I run in my closet? im on a budget so what would be the best for my situation?
