Very simple, just use plain water during the last two weeks of flowering to allow the plant to use up any nutrients/ fertiliser up in the soil. You'll see the large leaves start to lighten in about a week as the stored nutrients are being used up, I find it makes the taste and smell of the buds cleaner. I also stop watering 2-3 days before harvest which helps to reduce this even further, sweeterning the buds up and helps the controling of drying of the buds.
So how does that remove nutrients from the buds? I understand leaching nutrients from soil, but where do the nutrients in the buds go?
The nutrients are used up in the process of bud development and more importantly any final N is used up during photosynthesis, which is why the leaves begin to yellow. Any excess nutrients are leached out as you're not adding more nutrients in the final stages and ultimately lead to a reduction of these levels throughout the plant. Chlorophyll is the main thing you want to remove fully, thus why you phase out N during flowering, as the plant still needs small amounts of this and pulls the residual N from the main leaves.
Flushing was debunked a long time ago. You can't flush the nutes from the plant only the soil. It's what is called bro science but yet there are still firm believers in this. Many many many threads on this very topic if you use the search bar on top.
Oh. I like my buds to develop until the day I chop. Seems like the peak time for terpene production is the worst time to make your plant unhealthy...
