My buddies just did a commercial grow and ended up with over 4.5 lbs BUT let's look at the time it took them vs an auto strain...

started with clones which give multiple advantages

#1 guaranteed female
#2 start off already with good leaves and height...this saves time

they got roughly 1 oz per plant (just like the autos) but were able to cash in since they had 75+. They vegged for four weeks and flowered for 8 for a total of 12 weeks. The autos will take anywhere from 10-12 weeks to finish completely from seed but won't have the same female to male ratio obviously. It's all about the math

If they hadda used the auto ak47's they would've needed roughly 150 seedlings to end up with 75 females(since autos seem to have low ratios)

anyways, my point is I am totally interested in the auto flowering strains and think in time with further development they could really be exceptional especially if the total time from seed to smoke could be reduced without infringing on other aspects. BUT having two separate rooms is a tried and true method. Combine this with clones of a killer high yielding strain and you're ready to rock and roll perpetual harvest style.

Try the autos for sure, but don't think you wasted your time at all by building two rooms

I read somewhere that you can't clone the auto's because of such a short life cycle? So if you take a cutting and it roots it won't have enough veg time before it starts flowering im guessing?

Anyway I definitely want to try the autoflowering because 1oz a plant and say 3-4 females that is more then enough herb for me for about half a year. Don't have any friends that smoke to share nor do I smoke much, few tokes a night...so I'd be happy with that :)

I barely smoke myself so I'm in the same boat as you there....a few ounces will easily last me.

I have found pics of cloned autos on rollitup, but from what i understand if the plant is 25 days old and you make a clone, the clone will be 25 days too. SO basically the clone and the mother will finish on the same day. I'm no expert, but I couldn't see a clone making more than a small percentage of bud the mother would. I guess I mean that from what I understand (which may be wrong) cloning will result in no more bud just more plants or even less bud than leaving the mother be. Opinions welcome

Thats about what I figured. Although I always thought of a clone as like only X days old since it popped up at the node? But your guess is as good as mine when it comes to autos!! :joint:

That could very well be, good point. I've found searching about the autos on google has gotten me more info than searching on this site. It digs up posts back to 2007 etc from here as well as other weed sites.

Now that I think about it I'll go re read that cloning bit.

I took these pics with my cell phone so they might look a bit bad

everything is still progressing, just did a second feeding of bloom nutes today...

My large phenotype is sick and I can't figure out why. Every time I've ever had a sick plant it's always been because something has happened to it, but I'm stumped.

It's gotten 100% exactly the same amount of everything as the others but isn't doing so well. It's in MG soil which I thought could be a problem till I remembered that both males I kept are also in MG soil and are 100% healthy and two other girls I have are also 100% and in MG soil.

I flushed it and gave it straight water plus super thrive...I'm almost thinking maybe it's a deficiency since it's way bigger and would therefore need more food?

Since all the others are fine it has to be something specific to it...

it's new growth does look ok but the lower leaves are ugly and getting uglier

some good news is all the buds are slowly starting to form. I can almost imagine what they'll look like in a few more weeks. Oh, and my shitty hygrometer magically started working again.

last 2 pics are the large phenotype. First one is today, the 2nd is from just a couple days ago.

i have some weird auto flowering strain that i can clone off of and i get nice size plants 2 ounces eazy i use 8 gallon buckets though so that helps

Looking good man and only 28 days from sprout *boggle*!!!!! I have got to get me some of those autoflower seeds! :) I'm stoked for you bro!

i made seeds crossing a male ak48 with my unknown auto strain and i am growing some of the seeds now but not all auto i need to find a auto male and female and mate them hopefully that will help with auto percentage or i can try and force one of the females to produce pollen and pollinate a younger auto clone and get auto fem seeds that would be cool

How do you force a female to produce polen to make a fem seed run ??

How can you hermie a auto strain? The only way I know is fuckin with the light in 12/12, but autos don't depend on the light schedule. I'm really intrested in this, I want to make my on seeds and not have to buy anymore. I was planing in crossin Lowlife Blueberry (male) with a Lowryder 2 x AK47 (female) on this grow I'm doing now, but I could also use some femenized seeds for future grows.

I believe there is a chemical they spray the females with so they go hermie. I read it somewhere on this site.

Right now the temp is 76 and the rh is 36%. Normally it would be a bit warmer but today it's cold outside. I don't know if I believe it 100%. Earlier today it said 97 or so but I was inside for more than fifteen minutes and it wasn't uncomfortable at all.
