1st time grow setup questions

Hello, I'm a first time grower and I'm having issues deciding on a setup. My plan is to get a 36x36x72 vivosun tent with a mars hydro tsw2000 light. My intake fan is gonna be an ac infinity raxial s6 and my exhaust is gonna be an ac infinity cloudline t6 with some small oscillating fans for circulation. I have no idea what medium to use yet, maybe DWC or a recommended soil. I wanted to do 2-3 plants at first then maybe later down the line 4 if it will fit. Im thinking getting the strain lsd because of its high thc content, high yields, and because of its resistance to mold. Does that sound like a good setup or should I change some things? What kind of soil should I use and what size buckets? If I do use soil I plan on using fabric pots. Any help or tips would be much appreciated.

In a 3x3 I would go with 2gal fabric pots in your gonna go the soil route. I love using fox farms ocean forest for soil

Thank you for the tips. Would my exhaust fan be strong enough with a filter attached to do a passive setup and still have have no smell? I haven't really looked into passive setups. How does the rest of the setup sound?

I'm a noob so what do I know?

Your tent and light setup seems great. The medium I'm going with for my second grow is Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I've been doing research on DWC during my first grow (nearing the end) and it seems so prone to minute changes. Maybe it's for you, but I think I'll stick with soil. I'm currently in a 2x4 and I plan to do 4 plants max so you do with that what you will but I think I've heard 1 big plant > several small plants. I've been watching TONS of youtube videos and even professional growers use small buckets but I think the consensus is to use approximately 3-5 gallon buckets. I didn't use fabric pots this time around but plan to next time.

Just have your exhaust fan pulling out through the filter. As long as you keep the flow rate higher than 5 to 10 times the volume per hour (which you're prob gonna go way over that which is fine to keep new CO2 coming in), you will maintain enough negative pressure in the tent that whatever smell you end up with on the outside is coming through the exhaust, which is coming through the filter. You can add a little ozone machineoutside of the tent to also clean up any little smell that gets out (don't overdo it on the ozone because that can be bad for you and the plants).

When I had my first setups I built according to my size using some of the info on the following thread. The method is not as forgiving as soil or DWC though. Good luck at you!

don't do coco unless you study alot beforehand. soil is most forgiving. fox farms is widely accepted as a easily soil for first timers because it does the bulk of the work for you. just don't over feed.

.

Pro Mix HP (high porosity) medium
5 gallon fabric pots
4 saucers/4 risers
3x3 is a small tent for 4 plants, not much vegging.

How much bud do you want to harvest each grow?

Don't waste money on an intake fan. Put that toward better lighting. Not that I know shit about LED lights but you can't go wrong with better lights. I've been using HIDs the last 20 years. Actually got my first 1000W MH in '82 so it's been longer than that but I've been growing steady for the last 20 years come next Valentine's Day. My first buds were under T-12s back in '78.

All good advice here. Just remember that as noted don't veg for long as they'll become very crowded within the given space. Also during veg you'll need additional space for a humidifier. Don't use a charcoal filter during this period as it will get saturated and fail prematurely. Those are mainly needed during the flowering cycle to scrub the odors. HPS, CMH are great options and they have unique advantages but they do produce significant heat loads. Good luck with your grow.

I would personally shoot for 80 to 100 more watts for flowering in a 3x3 space
