- Hey, long-time reader, first-time poster. Previewing my posts, it seems like [Return] doesn't register, so everything just runs together. So that's why all the bulletin points. Consider them as simple spaces and returns.
- I've got these 2 Northern Lights plants I started from seed.
- I'll call them Big, and Stupid.
- There were originally 4, and 2 ended up males and had to be removed. Stupid was the runt of the litter, and I had little hope for Stupid because it was SO small before I removed the males. Well, Stupid friggin exploded in growth, and I was so proud!

- Big is flowering, and doing a wonderful job of it. So beautiful! Stupid is also flowering, but the buds are shamefully small, and stupid-looking. However, Stupid is COVERED in trichs. I mean even the damn branches are covered in trichs, and just brushing the thing with my arm leaves me sticky, while Big's trichs are much more modest, and hopefully are still developing. Cuz otherwise it would be a lil disappointing, honestly.
- Question:
- Why the heck are Stupid's buds so....small and spindly? As far as overall size goes, the branches are a bit smaller than Big's branches, but it's got a LOT more of them and they're a LOT longer. At one point, the very tip-top of Stupid got itself too close to the light and got burned a bit. lost a few leaves and a couple small bud-sprouts. Not really very much. Other than that, no plant has shown any other sign of issues.

- -SETUP-
- I have a weird soakaponic/NFT combo setup using 6" drain pipes in a U-shape (each leg of the 'U' angled so that water inserted in one end will run all the way through and out the other end) with holes for net cups every 8 inches or so, and inside the pipes runs 1/2" hose connected to something like a 600gpm pond pump in an 8-gallon reservoir. Between every 2 net cups, a 360 sprayer (or 2 in some spots) is inserted snugly into the hose. Each net cup is thoroughly sprayed with nutes. One reservoir for potentially 16 plants. That's the plan, anyway. Everything is scalable, too- I can obviously do fewer plants, and I can do a larger reservoir. Light is 400w HPS in a cheap-ass reflector, in a small 7ftx5ftx8ftHigh room covered in mylar. An oscillating fan comes on during watering, which happens 15 out of every 60 minutes.
- Using RO water, "Growth Technology" 'Ionic' Grow and Bloom solution with Cal/Mag, around 1k ppm, changing weekly. 2-1 ratio of Grow to Cal/Mag. I check solution every other day. Stupid IS at the end of the U-shaped pipes, so everything drains past her roots (she does get fresh nutes from the sprayers though). My least-well-controlled variables are temp and humidity, and I may have ventilation issues. Ventilation is fine when used, but it pulls in cold outside air, so it has to be minimized and sometimes it's forgotten (will be putting on timer tonight). Humidity is low...cuz it's winter. About 20%. Temps vary, but stay mostly around 76F. I also played around with adding CO2 by way of yeast+sugar for the past week or so, but Stupid was already the way she is before the CO2. They've been in bloom for about 6-7 weeks after about 4 weeks of veg and a week of germ (from seed).
