fair play to you
quick question nowadays are people more into using cfl because i dont see many people using hid lights
LOL, yeah...Lights.....2 distinct camps on this one.
Some folks swear by the MH & HPS......others are sold on the CFL's
I use the CFL's for safety and economy....the HID's are too hot and draw too many watt's for my comfort.
Many folks don't realize that there is a point of "light saturation" for plants, and excessive energy is NOT utilized.
I started my 2011 outdoor grow on Dec 27, and here are my 15 strains after 35 days of 339 watts of CFL. Good luck & good grow.......BB bongsmilie

Hey Bill, thanks for dropping in. I really got ahead of myself this time, for sure!
Started these girls Dec 27, and they just exploded!
I've never had such a fast break-out like this, and 100% germ rate to boot.
I must attribute this good luck to the new grow room I set up in my bedroom
and my "DYI "Germination Station" in the bathroom.
(obviously no wifey around to piss & moan about "the mess", LOL).
My original plan was to get an early start, and hold them back until time to go out on the patio.....Hah! This coming weekend I will have to start cloning them,
and the "daughters" will be my 2011 outdoor grow.
This is just not what I had in mind. I topped 2 days ago, but just no room for
LST. I'll for sure end up with a lot more clones than I can possibly use.
The Mom's? I'm not sure....I want to clear the room as soon as I can.
Then I can start 5 Northern Lights Auto/Fem's and grow them completely out
inside with up to 500 watts of CFL 24/7.
I'm making a speed controller for my fan out of a light dimmer switch I got
for $3.25......gotta get back to it and "git'er done!"
Later.........BB

I use cfl's for veg also but "fuck HID's"? If that is ur opinion of HID's u r definately entitled to that but let me provide some evidence that CAN NOT be argued with. As far as quality goes I can't see any difference between what cfl's and HID's produce but I don't care what anybody says there is no way ur gonna produce the amount of weight in the short amount with cfl's that HID's accomplish. Just dig through theis site and the evidence of that is overwhelming. There are tons of people here producing OKAY yields of top quality bud but the guys with HID's are producing the same top quality bud but with massive yields. A lot of us are illegal growers and can't grow outside. So since I'm stuck growing inside I'd rather end up with bags of pot(HID's) instead of just A bag of pot(cfl's). Here is the evidence to suport what I'm saying. These are my ladies under 1300 watts of HPS just a few days b4 I chop them. Cfl's won't grow ya a room full of buds like this! Each plant has several ounces on it!

If I was forced to grow inside completely, i would use the HID's too, in fact I have one, a 400 and I hate it. Not so much for the output, but my wallet. Ill take the sun over an HID any day, which is pretty much what I stated in my last post.

Anyhow BB thats a lot of clones you are gonna have there, sounds like I need to make a road trip ;) lol

we went from $250 a month to about $480 and thats just with a 400 on 12/12
Damn! That's outrageous! It must be a magnetic ballast, right? My 1000watter is digital and only pulls 2.2amps. Digital ballast are WAY more efficient than magnetic ones and they put out more wattage too. With magnetic ballast some of ur power is used up as it transfers through the magnet so a 1000watt magnetic ballast doesn't really put out a full 1000 watts. I'm running a 1000watt digital ballast and two 150watt magnetic ballasts and $43 is the highest my bill has jumped above normal. I usually run around $160 and my bill has been almost dead on $200 for the last three months that I've had the light on.

Hi there, thanks for dropping in. It's day 39 from seed, the girls "plumped" up much more than I had anticipated, so I had to double the bench area and spread out some. They are getting 339 watts of mixed CFL, air temp range: 78/68,
they're in 1 gallon grow bags, soil temp: 64/62. I'm using these Canadian nutes
I found on ebay, called "Bioponiks". Nobody seems to know anything about them
but the girls sure loved the "baby formula"! I will be taking about 50 clones this weekend, approx 3 of each strain, then the biggest and best one will go outside
in April for the "Big Show". I caught 16 for 16 germ rate this year, the clones may be a challenge to match that........Well boys and girls, my years are kicking my ass right now, and the Bong beckons, Good luck & good grow.......BB bongsmilie

I'm just gonna drop a couple of pix of today's cloning efforts. I quit at 44, leaves
me 6 spots for any that may show extra potential in the next week.
Then it's 12/12 for the mom's. From the gate, I understand that production under my limited light is gonna be shabby, but what the hey, I'll have some fresh smoke
around June 1. In the meantime, 20 of their best daughters will be on the patio
for the normal fall harvest. I think it may be a great year........BB bongsmilie

PS....nothing wrong with my math.....I will have at least 2 dozen "excess" clones.
I just need to figure what to do with them, hmmmm..............

Wanted to mention that my avatar is a close up of some Pineapple Express that my friend has grown. I mention this because I saw that you too grew Pineapple Express last year. Is it in this years roster?, and what was your opinion on its overall performance in terms of ease to grow and how much it produced?

Back to the current subject of this thread. That is a lot of clones! lol. I'm excited to see them later in full bloom outside.
Good luck with this year!

Hey there, thanks for coming by KK.
Ah yes.....the Pineapple Express, LOL.....I'm enjoying a bowl as I write this post. Your are in for a real treat! It was one of my best
producers last year, and in my top 3 fav's from 2010 along with the Blue Venom and Shark's Breath. I'm particularly excited about the
Chronic in this years line-up, it has an odor like I've never smelled before. If we get the early spring that's predicted, I'm going have a "monster" year. A quick recap of the strains going on right now: Chronic, Chiesel, Sour Kush, Sour Cream, Moby Dick, Warlock, RockLock,
Wappa, Amnesia Lemon, Blue Mystic, Motavation, Sensi Star, and The Church. I've got a couple of LA Women carried over from last year. So with 14 different flavors coming along, it will be a great year.
Good luck & good grow.......BB

I realize the U.S. is having some incredible winter weather right now, but here in
north central CA, we are having "SPRING"!!!
It's 12:30 pm, and the temp is at 71 degrees on my patio. So the Mom's are out for a watering and sunbath. God! It's good to live in CA!
Good luck & good grow.......BB bongsmilie

Pineapple Express was one of the most unique flavors of marijuana that I've tasted, so I'm lucky to say that I'll be getting a couple clones later this year.
That is a lot of flavors bro, I'm sure you enjoy the variety throughout the year. I usually have to get reg bud, and on occasion get White Rhino, White Widow x AK47, and Pineapple Express. So I'm envious of you, and proud that there are other smokers out there that truly are marijuana connoisseurs. A lot of people that live near here believe in Quantity over Quality, which is very depressing.

Nice to see them out having a nice sunbath. Its 41 degrees here lol.

I love those growbags, good for storage. Looking pretty pristine mate. That sour cream looks nice didn't think for one minute that i would like the strain to tell you the truth but its got a loverly strong look about it and is now one of my favourite plants. Gonna be a regular strain for me. Thanks for poppin in and speak soon!bongsmilie
