Well I looked up the “Chipmunkinator”… pretty elaborate. A bit more than I think I need but thanks @Karnath for the heads up. Lists between $45-$55 depending on where you’re looking. I think I’ll just stick with the $.97 wood meat skewers and 4@$2 “.17 hmr” mouse trap option for now. Lol

Guys: major lurker who has learned much from this forum - thanks! Sorry if this post is wonky, could only seem to figure out how to reply to my previous post.
Anyway after seeing some beautiful bushes here last year I decided to do a smaller grow utilizing FIM, restraints, and supercropping. Growing in the ground for the first time - I make my own compost and practice “no dig” so I planted in a large mound of compost on untilled ground. I think the results are pretty good?
Just put up the 2nd layer of trellis for SOG and the plant grew through it overnight! Seeing two inches of growth daily now! Variety is Runtz Gum from Herbie’s.
hopefully we can avoid the mold that decimated my crop last year.

Hey I have a Diesel that's about 9ft tall now that I want to chop hard back to a reasonable size - plant structure is pure reaching for the stars and not bushy at all. She may be throwing a couple hairs but otherwise isn't into flower yet - do you think it's too late to chop her back bonsai style given how close we are to the start of real flowering? I'm not going for yield and simply want a plant for more manageable size and when hurricane season starts to roll around I can worry less about branches snapping.

Well the heat is definitely raising Cain and causing misery, problems, confusion and frustration across our great state. Cannabis does stop growing at a certain temperature, and we have been reaching it daily, only breezes and shade have helped that. Miss one watering or skip a plant, this is what you end up with...
One of my big planters gets so hot, the plants are yellowing and not growing well. The black 10 gal fabric pots seem to be best.
I discovered almost by accident I've been undermeasuring, when what I thought I was using was a teaspoon, was a half teaspoon. That sucked, but explained a few things, although I'm glad I underfed than overfed. Now I can right size feed, lol. Sigh.
Also, I forgot how much damn work this was. Especially mixing autos and late starts. Now, I have to add and mix and administer different chemicals, different amounts, different plants, ugh. I long for the simpler days.
It'll get better, I'm sure. An easy path usually leads to not much. Gonna be an interesting year, that's for sure.
The plants that's wilted in the pic, came back 20 mins after watering. That's how fast the plants are sucking up water. Stem to stern. I'm thinking of a tobacco farm I know, they don't do tent tobacco anymore, but they prob have Miles of the white fabric just sitting in a barn somewhere. Bet I could get my hands on a few acres of it, and maybe help some of the Growmies out. More to do.

ooof. I hear ya. This heat has been brutal. There was a point when some of pots were drying out three times a day. I've noticed that all of mine have entered flowering, but I would have thought they would be a little further along. Now I'm starting to get concerned that (assuming 8-10 weeks of flowering) the cold temps in late September and into October will do them in.

I'd opt for bending and supporting. If you do decide to cut it way back I would have a plan for plugging holes in case you wind up with a big hole in the middle of the stem(s). Otherwise the bugs will move right in. Some varieties have really big hollows in the stems. I was never in a position to not care about the yield but maybe someone else has better advice.
It’s a boy! It was actually easier to see the balls with the flash than during the day. Happy to get at least one Rustam Kush male so I can make seeds. Oddly enough, it’s the smallest of the five by quite a margin. Seeing some good stretch in the two lankier females as well as the donkey-ears one too, while the short squat female is filling in the branches more and more. Seeing a lot of variation in this strain.
