I'm not sure I follow you on this. I mean, I'm all for caring about animals and stuff, but what does that have to do with 24/0 for Autoflowers?
I'm saying the relationship between the plant and the grower is very special indeed, forcing 24/0 for greeds sake is folly, one can push them, just as you can stay awake for 3 days. or so but in time you will crash ....just as your plants will, I say this with each plant must go thru different life stages, the plant knows this, and if the plant has not the 'power' to enter that specific stage then it will fall behind and die. your job is to ensure that it don't

good luck

I wondered if that was what you were saying. I agree with the first part, the relationship between plant and grower. I know you have strong views about this, and mad skills. My opinion (and I'm not growing to be greedy, but only for my own use) is that 24/0 is fine for all cannabis, tomatoes, chilis, and so forth. C3 vascular plants do not require a dark period, scientifically speaking, distinct from C4 plants which do. I require a dark period, but I don't think my plants do, including C. ruderalis. Though I definitely agree with you about water, ruderalis mixes don't seem to care for much of the stuff.

they smell stronger with a dark period than they do on 24/0 ....... and we all know happy plants dont stink ...... so i stick to 24/0

Ive had good luck on 24/0 it really depends what kind of auto your running. I dont run autos but many landrace equatorial sativas go by age. If maturity is the factor the most light is optimal. If a dark period slight is required, it will prolong flowering and mess up bud structure. Yiu wantvthe most light possible without inhibiting flower..plants do not need a dark period.
The dark period effects chemical processes in the plant it is needed for photo plants but not sure about autos

is just plain ignorance on your part ...all newbs do it these days..
but in reality it proves grower ignorance on one of the most basic principles of life,
..look to improving your relationship with sentient beings, above all else, and understand that one basic, of all functions being 'Carbon Exchange'
consider keeping a fish, mouse cat even a dog ...so you can in time ..learn to care?
What the flying fuck are talking about? Are you on acid voley?

His way is the only way bro don't waste your breath.
I'm sorry if I come on a big strong, I still struggle sometimes with English,

and yes many many people will agree with you, but I have yet to see any 'evidence'

that you and those who would support you claims ...to be correct,

my concern from the outset is the care of all cannabis plants, everywhere

please support you methods with a link, and teach this dog a 'new ' trick

cheers

Watching this, germinating three autos right now, I'm planning on using a drip system, will this be OK since I think I read they aren't the biggest fans of water?

Check out an old post of mine growing auto flowers for that big yield.

24/0 is fine. 20/4 is fine. If you want to save a bit of power go 20/4. I have been running autos for several years on 24/0 for simplicity reasons only, seed to harvest.

I notice no difference either way.

I'll be on week 7 from seed tomorrow but I switched from 24/0 to 18/6 at week 3 and then switched my bulb at week 5 from a 600 watt MH to HPS. 4 of the 7 plants I have are really up there in height vs my Fast & Vast that is short with TONS of bud sites.

Thinking of changing it to 20/4 light schedule to help produce a bit more bud? I'm running 3 different strains in my grow :P check it out in my signature.

I run 20/4 from seed to harvest. I just harvested a Dutch Passion Ultimate that gave me a little over 8 oz dry. Chopped a 2 Fasr 2 Vast that gave me a tad over 7 ozs. 20/4 works great for me. I grow in coco in home made wal mart bag air pots.

What kind of set up did you have? How many plants per light and watts? I'm running 3 Fast & Vasts (not the same strain, version 1.0) and wondering what they may yield.

Hey guys and girls! New here :)
I am an auto grower, 1 year now. I always keep the lights 24 on dew to weather problems. I only mind the extra electricity consumption really.

I'm thinking about planting my seeds directly into 5 gallon smart pots then keeping them under 600W at night and sun during the day. Hopefully it comes out well.
doing so is just going to slow down the growth, let them start in something small then get roots and they will take off.

Uh Ryan I dis agree with ya bro. replanting an auto , not always but most of the time, will stunt her growth. Start in what you finish in..

Zspy I grew the DP in a 5 gal bucket and the 2 Fast in a 3 gal. I grow mostly in 3 gal. I run (2) 1000w hp. my grow room is 10 x 10. UI use a 8000btu window unit and a couple of fans to keep my temps in the 74° - 78° range and humidity anywhere from 48 to 55% . I feed FloraNova Bloom and Cal Mag Plus every day from day 1 ph'd at 5.8. I grow hempy bucket style. The plants I cut this wknd was 89 days old. I know in the other thread about pot size the conclusion was smaller pots are better for seedlings and to transplant up as the plant gets bigger but that's only with photos. Autos are different, they are effectively on a timer so the stress from transplanting could set it back and reduce yield. I've even seen a few people say that growth stopped completely after transplanting an auto. This is where watering techniques are important, start with a little around the seedling and increase area and amount as she grows, you're better having to water it more often from the water being used up than over watering and having to let it dry out for a week as that's not good for smaller plants if the pot is to big.
