Just read through your grow Malevolence, looks like your tent is filling in quite well even with the slow start. I think you will see a noticeable difference running both bulbs. I've been a full spectrum fan for some time now, currently running a pair of 400w CMH bulbs in a single large hood. I'll be lurking to the end to see what you think of the mixed spectrum.

I got one comment, hope you don't mind. On your ventilation, installing a rigid elbow at all your hood fittings would make a big difference in air flow.

good point man... I've noticed the duct crunches up at the 90* bends so there is probably only 2/3 the airflow available.

Week 4.5 please excuse the pet fur, I didn't notice... shit is sticky and it's a daily battle... it's all for personal though. PH has been stable since the last update; boosted ppm to 800 (a little high, running 700 now) and started running a little cal/mag and protekt and everything has been looking good.

I've already smoked some of the lemon haze dried in the oven at 175* for an hour and it is incredibly potent, I cannot believe I am getting blasted off 4 week old bud. It's wrong, but it's my garden and I was out of weed. I haven't actually stopped smoking so my tolerance is normal (smoke lots of bud, no dabs) and I still got extremely high. I will definitely be ordering a 10 pack of SLH and keeping the best girl for a mom. First time growing it, but I have smoked it a few times and it never lets me down.

The pineapple express looks frosty, and the freebie grapefruit from positronic is yielding like a beast for her size.

GDP - this is my biggest plant, but it's not packing on much weight. Probably because of all the issues I had this grow. I should note there is a lot more bud on it than what it looks like in this picture though. Got a bunch of leaf angle.


Grow #4 got slimed which set me back 10 days. Did not dechlorinate, bennies died, got slimed... not thrilled about fucking up so soon. Also I was using Heisenberg tea which did not help. Maybe I make it wrong, seems pretty simple and fool proof... but I'm just taking human error out of it and sticking with aquashield only from now on. All has been well for 2 weeks.


The plan is to transplant these 12 into 1g hempy buckets and induce flower in 2 weeks, or whenever they are big enough to take clones. I will refill the 12 site cloner with cuttings and get those rooting while these flower. That way we can see what phenos we want to keep, cull the males, etc. and start collecting moms.

I have a list of traits I want in our collection - good mix of indica and sativas, lemon haze, blueberry, og kush, purple, and I want to pheno hunt some bodhi and sannies gear.

Today I learned my ph pen is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy off. I've been adjusting shit to 5.8 but in reality I have been setting it to somewhere in the low 4s or high 3s... liquid ph drops are indicating so fucking red it is almost pink. My youngest plants in veg are showing deficiencies and the plants in bloom have a pitiful yield for over 5 weeks into it. I still have another 3 or 4 weeks... maybe even 5 on some of it so hopefully the yield will increase after correcting ph. I will be calibrating my shit every 30 days from now on... as opposed to never.

My plants are sitting in it right now as I wait for the hydro store to open today. My pen is so far off I need 10.0 calibration solution because using 7.0 just says 'er' In fact, I won't be surprised if it won't calibrate at all at this point, and I will be truly fucked.

This entire grow ended up being filled with rookie mistakes. I'm still chopping and smoking the shit and have another cycle right behind it. I was all thinking I just got some low yielding strains and it was the genetics... but no, it was me fucking it up this whole time. I am happy though... because now I know what the problem is and can easily fix it. Also explains why some of my fish have died in the aquarium: ph is probably in the 5s.

Doesn't matter how much you research and try to learn, growing weed seems like one of those things you won't get good at without a lot of experience. Or maybe growing weed is easy when you do everything right, but little newbie mistakes end up having huge impacts on your grow until you have the experience to know what things to watch for. Reminds me a lot of learning how to cook food, which I'm pretty bad at also.

Yo malevolence, I calibrate my ph pen every week brotha. That way I don't run into the ph problem. Sometimes in a wk my calibration is off by .3-.75 that will easily F things up! Glad u found the problem and it's a easy fix!!

Yea man I have had mine for about 8 months and have never calibrated it except for the day I bought it... I have never had to calibrate my cheap-o ppm meter (I did calibrate it once and it was spot-on) so I assumed my ph pen would be the same.... fuck no.

I went to the hydro store and my pen is fucked... the probe is ok because I store it properly. It will only calibate to the next step above... so 4.0 is read as 7.0 and 7.0 is read as 10.0 and 10.0 is almost 14. Going to see about the 1 year warranty... using ph drops until then. I will be calibrating both pens much more often.

I grow in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in a 5' x 8' closet running a total of three 400w ballasts, although I have been keeping one dimmed to a 250w MH... I have a tent set up I'm now using for flower and veg area. The goal is to grow enough weed for me and my girlfriend to smoke whenever we want, make some bho with the trim, and if anything is left edibles. We will be lucky to have enough to smoke this grow, but it will get there.


Lights not plugged in cuz my digital Walmart timers fucked up so doing it manually until tomorrow. So far I like the digital Galaxy Select-A-Watt 400w ballasts. It will run an actual 250w MH lamp, not a dimmed 400w.


The tent exhausts into one bathroom and the veg light exhausts into the other one. This closet sits in between them.




I installed a GFCI receptacle in the closet so I wouldn't have to run cords through the bathroom. The garden at 100% capacity uses about 1,250 watts and I can have the TV on and all the lights taking a shower and not trip the breaker. Everything is 12g wire and grounded up the the power strips. The wires could be nicer, but the main goal was to just get them off the floor.


Negative pressure keeps the sides of the tent sucked in and the carbon filter scrubbing.


I have transplanted our Blue OG and Sunshine Daydream to coco hempy buckets with perlite res... next time we will fill the buckets higher, and possibly mix perlite with the coco but I only plan to keep moms in hempy buckets in the future... and just veg clones 2 weeks in the dwc cloner then straight to dwc buckets in the flower tent. Corrected ph on everything to 5.8 with liquid drops. Fortunately I have used liquid drops for a grow and half before and know the color shades pretty well. 5.8 is yellow with a slight tint of orange in a clear shot glass. If yellow and there is a slight tint of green you are in the low 6s.

The new crop has the most visible damage from ph lockout... the crop in flower is suffering yield pretty hard, but I have another 3-4 weeks to keep things dialed in and make the best of it. The new growth is looking much better the last 36-48 hours. The new growth was rubbery before... glossy, eagle clawing, rubbery feeling. Now it's perky and supple and shit.

I am running these with Botanicare lineup using bloom nutes since I will only be vegging for 2.5 more weeks to let them establish root growth and recover.

Harvesting is Fun for me. It's a Hobby. I like growing everything and anything. Getting popi seeds next week to see what it's all about. That's what growing is, Fuck talking about yields and what the fuck you grow. The Real question is "Are you in Constant Supply"

hell yea... we will get there with the poundage before long. 800 watts should be yielding over 1.5 pounds potentially. We only need 4oz to smoke, the rest will be bho and edibles and smoking up friends on occasion and stock piling the rest for the end of the world. Would be nice to get to the point where we can take some time off from growing just to minimize chances of getting busted as much as possible. I know what you mean... I fuckin sketch out in apartments but I feel like the risk is low enough that we won't get busted... that's the hope anyway. The place I'm in now has a ton of maintance issues, so I've had them over at least 15 fucking times no shit... and the pest control dude came twice, and fire detector inspections once. Takes a certain type of balls and probably stupidity to grow in apartments but there are two parts to it: one is we want to have weed and can't afford to pay $60 an eighth for trash that doesn't get you high; two is people should not abide to unjust laws and the more people that say fuck you and grow anyway, the better off we all are. Even if I didn't smoke I would still want to grow for bho to have in case anyone I love needs it for serious medicinal reasons.

When I started growing I was in a shitty 1 bedroom... was growing in the laundry closet, then made a shitty stealth dresser with a 4" inline that sounded like a hair dryer... threw that shit away when we moved.

The goal is to pheno hunt some strains to get a little collection of 4-6 mothers and just veg clones. So far we know for sure we want to keep super lemon haze but we're going to run another pack and keep the best one. I also know I want blueberry and og kush in the garden, and I like g13 labs... hence the blue og. Would like a purple represented; other than that we want a balance of indicas and sativas and i want to pheno hunt bodhi gear, a couple strains from sannies, and probably be giving sin city seeds a shot and fuck around with the og raskal fire alien shit since I read a lot of good things about them.

I can't do the soil thing, but I've been wanting to grow more organic which is why I'm experimenting with coco hempys and pure blend pro. Seems like a lot of people use Canna nutes in coco... but I got the pure blend pro for DWC really. Seems like a good way to try and run organic based in DWC without getting slimed since a few people use it in DWC with success. The main reason I want to grow organic is for increased flavor.

And don't worry about that... she is a sexy little pierced red headed squirter southern belle with an appetite for blow jobs and fruity strains.

Watched a pretty cool documentary about plants last night... it's made in 2013 so it's not too horribly boring.
