Dude I seriously just put a TON of perlite in soil (more like I put a little soil in perlite) and water the medium, poke a spot with my finger, put the cutting with a couple inches of stem in the medium, and mist with a spray bottle. **I only water when first planting the clone/stem. After that I just mist till roots show.
This time around I put them all in the same tubberware/tote and put that in my veg cab. But previously I had success just placing a plastic bag over each pot. Once they're about a week in I start exposing them to air to help harden(remove bag) for an hour or two a day and after a couple days of that they usually have roots and are ready to be treated like a reg plant.
General pointers for cloning;
They like it humid.
It needs to be warm.
They like it to be moist but not soaking wet or bone dry.
The roots don't like light so the vessel needs to help block out light.
The roots formed at first can be pretty fragile so be careful.
That's about it as far as where I found success. I know at first I failed and then I way over complicated but I've settled somewhere in between. Hope this helps!
 
The clones I have in water, one of them already started rooting. Has two small roots.

next attempt I'm going to cut dip in rootech and put them in RR in the back of my veg tent under some CFLs in a humidity dome

Wow that's cool! My first attempt at cloning I did just like you and after like a month I have up on them because there were 0 roots.
 
Here is my reveg clone vertical scrog. It's an experiment but hope it goes well. The mother was a very good smoke. Platinum cookies x bubba kush

I threw 2 of them away and one rooted I put the rooter in soil and took three new cuts. Going to start changing the water daily

I cut 4 clones off my bag seed grow and used clonex and root riot cubes. I put them in the bottom of the cube so when I sat the cube in the tray it wasn't sitting in the puddle i left in the bottom to keep the humidity up. Putting it thru the bottom helps keep the stem straight as well instead of the pre-made holes. My clones all rooted like crazy by the 7th day. and I mean like 3 inch roots sticking out the bottom of the cube. and now they are all in 2 gal pots in a 2x2 flowering. IMG_4622.JPG

I removed all the budsites from the lower region for these girls. Only focusing on top colas. (going for fast/low yield) it was just an experiment. 1st time cloning.

Where did you put your clone dome? I want to put my cuts in RT then into RR put them into clone dome and stick that in the back of my veg tent
 
I had mine outside the tent giving it 16/8 light-dark and now it's on 10/14 for flower. Part of the experiment. Shorter veg time/usual flower time/shorter than usual daylight /more dark, and with only top colas. No secondary bud sites.
 
Was going to cut a couple clones for my clone dome but decided to lollipop a little bit! Shell be full again in a week lmao

3 cuts. 2 normal/good size 1 tiny just to see if it happens lol. Put them in my big tent in the corner will mist daily and make sure RR don't dry out. IF MY RR DRY OUt WITH THE CLONES IN THEM OR START TO GET DRY WHAT DO I DO ? Should I spray the rr or take them out of the dome and dip in water? Lol serious question.

Try to at least keep a little puddle in the bottom of the tray but not touching the cube.. if the cube dries there is still moisture below for the roots to stretch out to.
 
DAY forty SEVEN :

Still trying to figure out cloning. Lots of trial and error. One clone had two little roots so I planted it, still not dead lol. I have 3 new cuts in water (changing water everyday & bigger cuts than last time) 3 cuts in RRs as well. Got a new sprout! 2 seeds germinating and another germin in soil. Wanted to test out germinating in soil for the first time! I plan on flipping my main plant to flower next Wednesday that should be enough time to recover from supercrop got my new tent also new light and another carbon filter and fan is coming today for my new tent. So much $$ but worth it in the end
Also did some lollipoping and defo 2 days ago.

There is something really endearing about seeing a box of pampers against a grow tent :weed:
