i have heard that foil is around 80% reflective, hotspots well no i dont think so, it may absorb heat as aluminum is a great metal for its ability to absorb and release heat in a verry short period of time.

im using a 1000w HPS hope my buds get as big as a fire extinguisher lol.

LED's are not trash, neither are HPS....right now LED's are like the tinfoil in a grow room, they work just fine but they are not cost efficient right now .

like the other dude said matte white paint is a little more reflective and it is 10x cheaper than foil.

Why not just nut up and get some mylar?! 100% illumination!!! I have use 1000w for vegging and for flowering. Not one light is better than the other, its how you use it. Any dickhead can grab a light and use bag seed to grow something. I've seen plenty of people on RIU that have grown some insane stuff, but like all good things, it takes the time and the know how. Boo yah!!!

Supposedly LED lighting has come a long way in the last ten years and is better now, but when I used them, they were horrible in comparison to MH or HPS. Also, they are ridiculously expensive. Your veg looks good, but the flowering doesn't look great. I have to agree I'd shitcan the LED's and pick up an HPS ... A 600 can go a LONG way ... as far as going the cheap and stealthy route, I'd say, yes to the stealthness but it's never good to do things half ass ... that doesn't mean buy a bunch of shit that u don't need but seriously you have so much space and it's not being used effectively ... shut the led's off when you take pictures so we can actually see the flowers ... I'd say you have some good ideas but they need to be fine tuned ... try different things all the time, that is how u learn a lot ... and aluminum foil??? seriously dude??? come on ... get serious here ... don't be using aluminum foil if you don't want to get the term noob thrown at you ... lmfao

Im no expert but two weeks into flower thats not too shabby but then again im just a Newbbb lmao

I had a black star 240, great light. I still use led to veg but 600 hps to flower. The 240 is really only putting out about 135 watts and the UFO are maybe 40-45 watts. Realistically you're in the 300 watt range.

Thankkkksssssss broooo .and first of all i thought.you were the other guy at first but ive never heard of lower wattages my lights all came with power certificates saying they push out 110 a piece and the 240 watt pushes 228? Or something. But thanks again anyways ive had plenty of compliments on my grow on other posts. Im content with my grow and i thonk im doing pretty damn well. Temps are good. I have good lighting and everything good air circulation and ventalation im two weeks into flower and allready got some popcorn going on. Ill be happy with my smoke. Thanks again

I have a 2 300w led units I`d put one of them up against a 600w hps anyday in fact I`d put my 200w induction with 1 of my 300w leds up against a 600hps and I know I`d win

500w no heat and the results will be better and all on one plug ?

Price ? £100 for the induction $300 so £190 for the led around $500 in total maybe you could get away with 100w of induction

Life span of bulbs ? Induction 5 to 10 YEARS ! with a 3 year warranty
LED yet again 6 to 12 years with at least a 3 year warranty

Money saved on power, cooling and fans ?

Plus also not being a douch bag and supporting the work of Tesla who was held back by big company`s and governments hell probably killed by some company or government

Get them leds closer it dose not matter if the plants a practically touching your lights small leds like that don`t penetrate far its why I use 100w led chips not as efficient but kick ass penetrate and far more efficient then hps is so I still save on power.

Pretty much what supchaka has said. but ill touch on a few other things.


lumens do not mean much, you could have twenty thousand lumens but if there not in the right spectrum then its doing just as good as a 5 lumen fake candle to help your grow. Touching on spectrum read into PAR, understanding those two will help you understand the benifites of LEDs,hps, everything in lighting really. Im not saying the LED's you have are crap but you really get what you pay for with LED's and the only good LED grows i have seen where it payed off to use one over a HPS was the grows of people who use fully custom units and they select what wavelength and how many LED's they want in that wavelength along with the lens. Each side has its own pros and cons and for many the personal decision is still to use HID.


Your plants look alright from what ive seen, but its hard to get a good look so maybe throw the ceiling light on and turn the LED's off?
