600W aeroponic/DWC medical closet grow

I'll further the comments you should light guard your res. As the girls fill out it'll block light in this grow, but the next round definitely use some duct tape or something.

My girls have had root sludge at the top like that before. I think the colder res temperatures are slowing the growth of algae, but take away the light and you may eliminate the need for ice.

Thanks for the info. I think as a further protection against rot, Im just going to remove the PVC/waterpump from the res and fill it up to the bottom of the netpots. Going Full DWC this round. To be honest. I think I fucked myself right from the get-go here. I decided to do a non organic grow, but with aided help from Voodoo and Hygrozyme. Because I did this, I cannot put H2O2 in my res, further causing the rot of the upper roots.

All the roots below the waterline look beautiful, they are white and healthy, its just the roots above the water line, that are rotting. SEE now I know for future grows. And you know what they say, "Knowing is half the battle"

Another reason Im doing this, is I have a leaking problem. I cant keep the res from leaking at the lid, I woke up this morning to find a small puddle on the floor of my room. No good. Its from the aero sprayers spraying the lid, and it slowly drips between the lid and bottom of the tote. I will provide pictures in a few hours.

29th day since I put my babies in their res. All shapes and sizes. Lets have a look.

Alright man. Lookin good. I agree about mixed strains in the same bucket. I don't know much about hydro either, but I know that can fuck ya a little. For all those with Oddysee,I got one runnin, she's cool lookin. Your grow looks good. Good set up. Think your gonna get nice smoke in there. One suggestion. When you get some cash you might wanna seal off an area and grab a cheap 200 flourescent and start a little veg area. You got the room, and you can harvet twice as often. I'll be watchin. Good luck homie. Peace.

Alright, time for the daily update of work done.

I have made a major decision in my quest for growing glory. I have removed the "aero" from my "ponics". Well not, REALLY! but I did take out the pump and pvc sprayer system. I am now technically DWC/bubbleponics all the way.

I feel bad for the diesel plants, first stunted and small, then, I took away their water pump! they had their roots wrapped around that thing good! I was very gentle, I did have to touch a lot of root, So lets hope my hands were clean enough not to do damage.

I filled the res up to the bottom of the cups, hopefully removing any air that was causing the rot.

I also gave my babies a heavy handed dose, 30-50ml of hygrowzyme. to eat off any of the rot. I know, I should brace myself for brown bubbles that will be the organic waste that the enzymes produce, it just looks aweful. After the rot has been eaten away by the enzyme, I will give them their final dose of Voodoo Juice. I have about 100ml left in the bottle. That should promote new rootgrowth where the last one rotted . Its science.

OK, Next up. I need to start thinking about trimming. Look at my ladies! I have so much new growth every day ( today alone 1+ inches) I want to get them ready for the flower in 2 weeks. But I know that I should let them rest for about a week after trimming to get over any shock. So that puts trim day in the next week or so. Poo. Taxes and I have to cut my babies all in one week.

lucilletrimtime-1.jpg

I was thinking I should get some rooting hormone and clone my prized lady lucille. She is a beast, Im placing my bet on her. I could use my pump and this extra tote I had to create an aero-cloner. I have all the stuff I would need. I dunno about space though, looking kinda tight in there, and the ladies will only get bigger. I do support pumps with sprayers as cloners, the rootgrowth is amazing with them. I needed more H2O2 in my water, next time.

There seems to be plenty of room for air flow, why would you trim?

Well, I guess because I heard that when you remove the lower branches the main cola as well as any buds that form on the top get major benefit from nutes not used by the lower branches, that dont get much light anyway.

Ok. So today not much is going on. The ladies seem to be loving the removal of that pump. Well, actually it seems to me they haven't even notices. Which is good. Here is a pic

garden4-13-10.jpg

As you can see, no damage done. I checked the res for foam from the hydrozyme. None, not a hint of foam. I dunno if I should be worried or happy. Lets see how it goes. Tomorrow I will be dosing them with my last 50ml-100ml of Voodoo juice.

Im pretty happy. The white diesel is hitting a growth spurt, shes popped up maybe 4 inches in the last 2 weeks. Heres a pic.
whitedieselgrowing-1.jpg

She is growing at an angle though. I need to start training some of these guys. Trimming and training and taxes, the three T's of the week!

So next trip to the store im getting a few things. I should start a list.

List:

Lightproofing for res-
stakes for plants-
string for training.
2 inch chickenwire (no plans yet, just want to have in case I need it.)
zipties or small wire for training.

Once I have that stuff, I should be set for a week or two.

your journal is looking great i love the amount of pictures you have. very exciting watching this i have no exp with this type of system so i'll be watching you! the stems kinda look like N def. but N def also brings on yellowing leaves so idk if its just your stems its probably a gene thing keep a close eye on your veg for changes. I'm a soil guy, but thats my 2 cent. my journal is in the sig feel free to stop by +rep for your superior efforts thus far!

Thanks man,

Yea.. the only reason I picked this system is I heard you get bigger yields, but Im sure that's debatable. We can compare grows for sure. you only run 1 600 too right? How many plants you have going in flower? Where ya from btw?

I forgot to tell you guys. I mixed up a batch of 2 L of R.O water that I had pre-oxygenated (always have 5 gal with an airstone in it.) with 6ml of hygrozyme.

2liters R.O water
6ml of hygrozyme.

I took it and applyed it to the base of the plant. See below.

I just did this because, in my twisted mind. The enzymes will go through the rockwool and drip down the roots and through the rotting roots. Eating while they go. Trickle down enzymes and do my bidding. Muah ha ha ha.

Looks good to me. :weed:

I get nearly twice as much bud from lower branches as from colas from one mum. I'd get to know your girls before you perform elective surgeries. You can always make heaps of potent butter out of inferior scraps, nutes do not go to waste on healthy girls, trust me. ;-)

I'd top dress fresh water every so often for a while, to occasionally re-moisten those enzymes and flush 'em through.

Just noticed a white fuzz growing on some of the lower leafs. Check it out. Are these crystals? I dunno, you tell me. This is my first grow duh. could be mold, what do you guys think?

yeah just 1 600w hps. got 5 ladies. plead to the 5th on the last question

Today has been kinda busy. I went into the room today to hook the ladies up with some voodoo juice. I noticed I havent been using my room correctly. Take a look at the room below. Ive moved the fan closer to the door.

allthegirls-1.jpg

By moving the fan I have also created more light for all the plants, and room for them to grow.

roomtogrow-1.jpg

The ladies have actually taken off since I removed the pump and sprayer from the res. Take a look at how close they are growing to the light.

dollarbill.jpg

I noticed while moving the fan, that the skywalker plant in the corner was crooked. I looked at the base of the plant and I saw this.

leaningover.jpg

So I had to fix this situation with a little tape and some PVC from the aero cloner I removed. Its a quick fix until I get paid.

Tiedup.jpg

This way, shes upright. Take a look. Shes a monster. I expect good things from her.

Below is a shot of the roots to the white diesel. Not much improvement since we checked yesterday. Im not going to obsess anymore, hopefully all the room Ive created for them and all the fresh light they will be getting will do them some good. Ill clean the res in 2 weeks and see if I can get some H2O2 to dilute and spray. Yes, I know that with the use of beneficial bacteria this could be risky, but I have no choice.

And my final picture, I just thought was kinda cool. So here it is. I take all my pictures with my Iphone. So if you have an Iphone, you know how amazing it is to get a picture this nice.

prettypot.jpg

Alright, Ill update you all next time I do anything in the garden. Hopefully for now, moving the fan wont affect the temp of the room too much and the ladies can have more light and room to grow.

Guess what people? Great news! I did my taxes, and im getting $675 returned! I was so excited! This means so many new things for the grow room!

Right now, Im only growing under one lamp. I'm thinking about getting an 8 bar t-5 florescent to vedge under from now on. So I can start a perpetual grow and have meds whenever I need them. No more making it stretch. This T-5 should cost me $240.

I was also thinking about getting a "tri-meter" this will allow me to constantly keep an eye on my ppm,ph, and res temp. This should run me $230

I was thinking about upgrading my pump to something industrial. right now, I think I'm running 15 L per hour split between a 25gal res and 2 5 gal buckets. So 35 gal of water. I feel a boost in oxygenation could help roots. This should cost me $75

This would be a good opportunity to buy a regulator for C02- $140

I think I can come up with about $125 before I get my check, bringing my budget to $800.

T5 $240
Tri-meter $230
Airpump $75
CO2 Regulator $140
Total $685

leaving me $115 to put towards a C02 tank

Yay! improvements to the garden coming soon. You will know as soon as I get the check in my hands!

hey mate hows it going? hows ur "fuzzy white patches" could be PM, powdery mildue. google it for some pics then u will know for sure. then look on riu for a cure :)

Well, since Ive found out that I was getting that refund check Ive been consumed with imagining all different ways of using the money to take my grow-room to the next level. IM NOT EVEN DONE WITH MY FIRST GROW!

Ive been told a few things.

1. Buy another light for your flower room, and buy a t-5 to vedge under, go for perpetual grow.

2. buy a 400w MH to vedge under, and go perpetual.

So, Ive decided to spend money on setting up a vedge area and go perpetual on the many pieces of advice I got.

I just cant decide if I should add another 600W to the flower room and go t-5, or If I should keep the flower room the way it is now,and buy a 400W MH to vedge under... Decisions.. decisions.

Here is the update for today, to be edited later today with more pics.

This is the wide shot of the whole garden.

Allthegirls.jpg

As you can see, everything is blowing up. 3-5 inches since 2 days ago. Im going to clone Lucille ASAP, shes the one in the middle of the picture, I really want my next grow to be 100% her genetics. Shes a beast. Same genetics as the monster in the corner in the 5 gal bucket. Amazing plants. Great strain too, Skywalker!

WhiteWidow.jpg

Here is a shot of my white widow in the 5 gal bucket. As you can see, she could use some nutes. I'm trying to only give them nutes once a week or when they ask. Because I dont have a PPM meter, so I dont want to burn them or lock them out.

Here is a picture of what I like to call "the bucket situation" I need to give these girls some fresh nutes and water, first time Ive done this ever. So Im going to start with the white widow. Shes in need.

buckets.jpg

This is a shot of the top growing towards the light, about 4 or 5 inches since the last shot on 4/14. I need to move this light up when I get my IRS check.

growingtothelight.jpg

Also, Ive been thinking about topping. I have about 2 weeks before I can buy the bulb to put these girls into a 12-12, so why not top them now?

here are some pictures of the very top of my plant, I dont know where to cut.. so maybe you guys can help me.
