600w HPS v.s. 1000w HPS i think 600w hps is better

If you were going to cover a 3' x 3' area(for example), and didn't have to worry about energy consumption, the 1000 watt HPS would be the best. You'd get a higher yield than a 600, due to the extra light penetration and intensity. That's the best choice if cost doesn't matter. The 600 watt light is the most efficient HPS light, producing the highest lumens per watt, and getting the most bang for your buck. It all depends on what's in your budget. :)

Also, the 1,000 runs hotter than a 600, so that's another thing to take into consideration.

Neither is better than the other, you need to use the proper light for the type of growing you are going to do.

If you are going to grow trees, you need 1k's. If power is not that expensive where you are, 1k's will benefit any grow.

Anything else or if power is expensive, 600's are good.

1500w hps and halide's are out now too btw, but so far nobody is growing the trees needed to show them off.

I have trouble with burning with my 600w and 400w. As soon as my Sativa strains start to bud they like to stretch into the the reflector which has glass protecting the plant from touching the bulb, but if they even touch the glass they get burned. It sucks because i have a 300 + CFM vent fan sucking the air into an attic through the reflector hood. My super lemon haze main Cola got burnt recently so I had to bend it downward to prevent it from growing to tall. Anyone know how I can keep my reflector cooler? I got AC, Oscillating fans, Actual Ducting to the hood with high CFM Can fan. Sigh! It only gets to around 83F in my closet during most days, but if its really hot out it can get up to 90F + with the door closed, but I normally open it.

Yo ghosty87 - with a cooled 600w hood you should be no more than 8 inches close to it, if you have 200 CFMs per 600w hood, you can get 6 inches close. You need to stay at 8 inches and check every few days to make sure it's not closer than 6. Your buds should never grow into the glass.......
