70 watts HPS ?????

I had 2 of these 70w HPS running for a short while. I liked what they did. I also had CFLs going too. At the time I had maybe 4 small plants (12-18 inches). I soon after ordered a 400w HPS, though.

I was thinking about doing a separate grow using 1 70w HPS and 1 plant with some training techniques. But, that might be a while.

For the cost of these 70w fixtures with everything you need to get them going and hung up -- fixture, power cord, chains, fasteners, you are much better off ordering a 400w or more HPS.

I should have just paid the ~$140 for the 400w at first rather than spend ~$220 on buying the 70w + everything else.

You should just use all the lights you have for veg hps and cfl's included.

Also someone said 1 gallon grow bags and someone else suggested scrog. Neither are the optimal ways to use your lights really.

You'd be far far FAR better off growing in some 16-20oz soda bottles with drainage holes cut in the bottoms, with as many packed in your little space as will fit and just going 12/12 after a week of veg max and growing single cola plants you don't top or train at all.

One gallon containers are too big for your space, you can't grow plants big enough to even need them at all so why waste the space with such large containers.

And scrog takes way too damn long, that's lots of time wasted in veg with zero gain in harvest compared to much much faster single cola plants.

You could flower two full crops of single cola plants in the time it takes you to do one scrog almost.

Lastly now is not really the time to be waiting. Now is the time to be vegging a mother and starting clones. They don't smell and you can hide them anywhere. If you don't do them now you just waste more time since it will be at least a month before a mother can be cloned even if you start from a clone and more like two months if starting from seed. Then add another couple weeks after than until the first clones you take from the mother are rooted and have grown a week and then 8 plus weeks on top of that to finish flowering. Now we're talking mid to late summer my friend.

Time will just keep on passing you by...

yeaa! i alredy have some seed germinating. they already sprout wating to be in soil soon. to be the mother. hope when the hollydays are over she would be big enough to take clones, may a bit more time. so for veg all the light i can, will do it . there is a thead on RIU that was 12/12 frome clones and the plant are very low in size. that was one of my ideas but thankx a lot for the info because i`m looking for a short time crop.

Ok good glad you got her going already I was a little worried there for a sec thinking you'd be so far off until first harvest it sounded painfully far off.

I agree I think plants with no veg time are a little too small for my tastes too normally, but what I'm suggesting is a week's veg, though you could stretch that to two weeks but not really more than that.

You'll be making up for size in sheer numbers and with a week or two veg (not time just trying to root, real veg time growing leaves) you'll be able to pull as much as 1oz off each little plant.

You can probably cram anywhere from 12-24 plants in there, and even if you only got half what I know is possible you'll learn to really like those fast little plants.

wow! 12-24 is a lot i was thinking 6 -8 using SOG one cola plants. but 12 definitly would be better. lets see what happens.

about the 20oz bottles how high they have to be cut??

Leave as much height as you can, it's the height that makes them work well even though they're so small around. You just want to ditch the part of the top that's funnel shaped and be sure to add drainage holes the size a normal pot would have.
