I started using a little 80w hps for cloning. One of those little shop lights you can buy at HD. I tore the photo sensor out of it and it runs like a champ.
Doesn't get very hot so I can get it close to the plants with a small fan
on them. Since I switched I noticed the seem to root quicker and grow better than when I used the cfls.

Tried to flower under 60 watts? Not to mention no nutes for the entire grow, in dirt i dug up from an old garden? Plus tap water.... No ph testing, no nothing.
I did everything that any sane grower would suggest against and at this point im actually impressed with the results.
I read somewhere that being root bound will increase the speed they flower... Anyone know if thats actually true? Im aware the wont grow much more, but thats fine.
I am going to take a clone as soon as i see pistils. I have a feeling the genetics at play here are decent. It was bagseed but they grew quite well. Imagine if i took proper care? Im gunna need some bud to smoke so the clones will turn into my next headstash and i will continue this thread so the difference can be shown in how these plants would have looked.

72.00 bucks to my doorstep, its an great little buy imho, however the actual reflector needs a erector set kinda assembly! Bout 15-20 lil nuts and bolts, not bad considering the end result!

I wanna try new lights. Ive never used good lights. Im cheap as fuck.
So, any tips on what to buy? I wanna start doing bigger grows. I think a 1000w would be cool but im scared im gunna buy it and the ballast will fail or something.

600w mh hps digital dimmable brand name with a warranty, quality lamps, a cooltube or hood and a couple of fans would be a nice start. Put a little in and get a shitload back.

I run 1000w in a 4x4. Temps raise 20deg between on and off. Hardest part is keeping it cool.
You'd want a sealed hood. An inline fan to draw cool air to the hood. An inline fan and a carbon scrubber for exhaust and another small inline fan to draw additional cool air to the plants.
