A Hempy Adventure in Soilponics

I think it's time for an update on the progress of the next round, the 9 lb Hammer, since there is a little pain from the 2 rounds of hermies, hope that shit is over. Last photo I posted was the day after X-Mass. Since then on 1/1/15 I transplanted the soil cups into 2qts of soil with 1tbsp of OC+ which was day 26 (remember I start counting the day I plant un-germed seeds)
Here's a shot on 1/4 a few days after transplant

Here they are on 1/12 after I raised the light again, the 128W of T-8 are kicking it (lol) But it's really the pace I need to keep for the long veg period.

3 days later, it's time to top, to get the side branching going and keep the girls from out growing the veg box. I've topped and cleaned up the bottom. There are a total of 3 nodes left. I'll grow out the top 2 nodes and pull clones from the bottom node. Not sure if I'll keep males for seed making this round or do it next round with clones??? I may wait just to have a seed free run.

Here they are at 1/27 new mains and side branches have really kicked in.

The 9lb Hammer has been maintenance free, been watering every 4 days. The OC+ make veg so easy it feels like I'm cheating. I've still got 3 to 4 wks to go in veg and I may have to top again. I like to keep em at 24" or less at the flip to flower.

I'm guilty of neglecting this journal. But when you're growing seeds it takes the fun out. I haven't even taken many photos. The OC+ kept everything really green up to near the end of wk 7, at which point the plants started to show some natural fade. Chopped em' down on day 59.

So ends this journal I'll be taking the 9lb hammer to a new thread.

I should mention that while I was segmenting some larger buds this evening to prep for making some oil this weekend that the bud though full of seeds were just as dense and sticky as my previous runs of the Bay-11. I'll post how the oil turns out, we'll see if seeds make a difference or not.

Such a shame. If nothing else, Watt, you've increased my nanner patrol. Get back on that horse!

I won't give up that's for sure, but I will never let the hermie finish again. I've had a total of 4 hermie events over the yrs, and 3 of them had a link to the Bay-11, which is my favorite smoke. Next winter I'll visit the Maui Bay cross again and try to get something more stable........ Maybe??

Oh yea!!! And I've caught it once, with a special purple male Bay-11 which was the father in the Maui Wowie cross (Maui Bay) which is a winner and F-2 Bay-11 seed from my fav female from the 10 pack, I haven't grown one yet but my friend grew one out last summer it looked black in his garden, Here's a shot of bud he cut off for me at about mid plant.

Out of two 10 packs of seed the one male was the only one that showed the purple trait. But you have to grow the males out to see those kind of traits. Then you get a Unicorn.

Well I've reduced all of the seeded bay 11 into oil. I have to say the yield was still impressive and the product quality is better than many oils I've made (but then again the bay11 is my fav).

So I guess in the end, if you like smokin' oil it's worth it to let an over seeded hermi grow finish.

PS: I did throw a couple of buds of this on the wife's cleaning tray, and boy did I hear about it. Just wasn't worth the effort to smoke.
