a new topic for the forums- robots. more specifically, artificial intelligence.

its believed by some that the AI installed in some of todays robots will have the processing abilities of the human brain in 10-15 yrs. if this is tru, everybody born after 2022 will be less advanced mentally than these robots.

now even if that doesnt happen, what does it even mean for an "inanimate" object to perceive. perceiving is thought of by many to be the base of existence. will this change some minds?

if a robot assembles another robot, it is essentially reproducing- does that make it closer to be considered being a creature/animal?

what if the holy bible verses in the book of revelation about the mark of the beast were actually referring to robots all along?

would a robot look at a person as being god? would it be wrong? would the robot be able to say it is more mentally healthy than most of the religious humans around since it believes in its creator because it actually met them?

if i fuck a robot would it be considered masturbation or what?

these are questions many of us should start considering

for real this AI shit is real deep. robots- supposedly inanimate objects that have the ability to perceive. wheres the line between the living and the not?

Robots with AI isnt what has me nervous. The total reliance on computers and electronics does. Warfare...infrastructure....basically everything is run on computers.

What happens when true...Computer Warfare begins?

Damn we would get fucked up if those robots tryed to double cross ous they'll probably be 20x stronger than ous a alot tougher to kill

thats why we dont put advanced AI in powerful robots! itll happen some day tho, if it can be done it will be done.

u guys ever wonder why the robots in The Matrix didnt simply leave the earth? instead of enslaving humanity why wouldnt they leave all the dark clouds and live somewhere else?

What happens when true...Computer Warfare begins?
huh?

The future is bioengineering. We have the capabilities to become super beings should we choose to play about with genetics. Currently it is illegal to mess about with human genes to this extent.

Not just human. We can make any creature we can think up if we so choose to.

Sorry for going completely off track (almost?) here, but I honestly don't believe that robots could ever be anything more than programming. The complexities of this may shock and amaze us at times (in the future) but I doubt that they could ever become any type of threat, or gain any real/natural/of their own making intelligence.

Bio engineering, when it comes time to move planets, we will need this skill so that we can better adapt to our new environment(s). Who needs evolution, when we can do it for ourselves, only much, much quicker.

My question about cyber warfare was regarding an article in Time Magazine. It talked about how recently China has developed a team for computer/cyber warfare.

The team is made up of government agents, mafia paid hackers, and their best and brightest hackers and virus creators. Supposedly they were put together to combat US electronic dominance on the battlefield.

Just recently China used a missle to shoot down one of their own older satellites. They claimed to doo it to get rid of it. But in reality it was a show of technological progression. Only like 4 or 5 countries have missle tech that could do something like that. China now does too.

China says their team would disable US sattelites disconnecting the "wired battletfield"....feed false targeting information....and infect US military servers. The US already has teams in place to do the same thing to other countries.

But my point was...what happens to missles when the cmputer controlling them is infected with a virus? Or what if some shmoe is able to pull off an attack on US or Chinese military servers and frame the other country?

Computers taking over and attacking man is some sci-fi channel shit....but this...is real life.

Now that's some interesting shit Bloodshot.......I'm going to have to research this subject a little further:eyesmoke:

OK so after reading through the links that Bloodshot posted, I did some more digging and came up with this:

WorldNetDaily: Beijing preparing new cyber-attacks

It's weird because some sources say that they cannot pin-point the attempted attacks to China specifically....in other words, someone somewhere else could be using Chinese computers as their last "jump off point" to get to our systems.

Then other articles are saying that is IS the Chinese trying to "level" the playing field against the US military, and that they have actually scheduled said attacks (see the above link).

I don't know what to think about it at this point.......I would like to believe that the US has already envisioned this scenario and taken the needed measures to prevent or counter such an attack.......I don't know. If they could cripple our military networks....ie global positioning, tracking, etc.....it would indeed fuck us up royally:-|

Yes, I'm sure all forward thinking countries have contingencies against such attacks. Our countries have been aware of hacking since the 70's, it stands to reason that we have built security measures to prevent any corruption. Not just human, but from the system itself.

Cyber attacks and systems security testing of military servers happens everyday.

Most techie countries have squads like this. But no country has ever come out and said..."we're doing this to combat US dominance". There is always a bullshit story to it. China laid it on the table and said what they're doing....and who they're doing it against.

Time will tell. And its only a matter of time before terrorists attempt to do this too.....That may be what happened in the situations where a country is cyber attacked and they cant nail down the source. Or they trace it back to a rival country. More than likely a country at odds with another wouldnt use their country as a base to launce such an attack on the other. It would be too easy to trace back.

But someone else doing it to frame another country is plausable.

I have an old pc game called "SuperPower". You can do exactly that in the game. And that came out in like 2001 or 2002. So the idea isnt anything new.

Good for them. It's no good to have one power/one side controlling everything. The chinese have never exactly been war-like. From what I know of their history they have spent most of it trying to defend themselves from the Jap's. They are a defensive country not an attacking one. I'm sure this technology is just to make themselves feel more secure.
