A Transplanting Question

hey all! just had a simple question but an important one; when you go to Transplant into a bigger pot would you all recommend grabbing the stem (obviously not death gripping it) but gently pulling on the actual plant to get it out, or would you guys recommend tilting the pot upside down? also i'd like to add the plant isnt all that big so its not like i've got a giant tree trunk to work with, and may be fragile.

Thanks.bongsmilie

definitely do NOT pull the stem to get it out of the pot!

Turn the pot upside down and tap the botom a couple times, making sure your other hand is on top of the soil (so the plant doesn't get crushed when it falls out if it's origional pot). It'll come out really easy if you let the soil dry out and if the rootball is big enough. Easiest way to transplant with no shock is to let the roots soak up almost all of the water, so the soil is kinda dry and stuck together with the roots. It's how I do it anyways, and never really have transplant shock.

Carefully tip the planter upside down while placing your hand over the soil on top of the planter, and whack the bottom 2 or 3 times until the plant and soil comes out as a whole :)

alright, thanks you guys. oh one more thing, if the soil starts to like...not hold together when i tilt it upside down should i let the roots develop more? because they are growing out of the bottom already a little, or should i not be too concerned about roots coming out of the bottom if theres not like "a lot" of them i guess you'd say.

Well the soil on the top is going to fall off some reguardless. If there are roots coming out the bottom I'm sure it's bout time for a transplant. (I'm betting there are more roots than you think) I just finshed transplanting my 6 girls actually. But like we both said, just put the plant's stem between your fingers and put your hand on the top of the soil, tilt the pot upside down and hit the bottom of the pot till the plant comes lose.
