aeroponics vs dwc

in a aeroponic system as soon as the roots are long enough to be emerged in the water isnt that dwc?? why keep the sprinklers on after the roots touch? seems to me like its just a waste of electricty... or am i missing something?

both systems would have an airstone, so the only difference i c is before the roots reach the water yes the sprinklers are needed but after they touch seems pointless to me.. enlighten me please

I asked myself the same question when devising my system. This is what I came up with.

The roots eventually hit the bottom of the 2' pots, but the way the drain is positioned roots don't sit in water. There is a huge advantage to aeroponics if you read about it. Most systems are not worthy of the aeroponic label. I'm not saying mine is perfect. I already have plans for a re-build.

DWC wins in PLANT size IMO. if you had no Restrictions to the grow. DWC WINS. Aero is for Smaller plants.. IMO but then again i have never done aero. I couldnt picture a 4-6 ft plant coming from a aero set

Not trying to sound like an aero-snob or anything, but there aren't many good examples of decent aero out there. I'd put this plant 38 days old up against a 38 day old DWC. Just started 12/12 on her the other day. Looks like a winner!

is that aero? you say no good examples of decent aero? I go for dwc cause i only went DWC IMAG0011.jpgIMAG0016.jpgIMAG0031.jpgIMAG0083.jpg DWC won for me.

Those are good lookin ladies. Tall! How long veg/flower? I think my system is decent, but could be better. I like aero because it's fast growth rates. It's the most advanced way to grow. Not always the easiest or most practicle in some cases. I think it's fun growin no matter how ya do it.

i got the system from stealthhydro.com the oxyponic set. vegged exactly 30 days from clone. flowered 64 days. Could have went longer. I MESSED UP. 1 was INDICA others were sativa dom. so my indica WAS BOMB and sativas were watever. this grow is ALL indica

The sativas were reaching for the sky. I was wondering how ya got em so tall. So the indica could've flowered another couple of weeks? I vegged for 30 days too. 90 days total is exactly what I'm hoping for. 6oz per plant would be nice too!

i got 12 oz from x4 plants all together. no I harvested the sativas a lil early so the INDICA came out perfect

nice vid mike young. so its safe to say that in a true aeroponic system the roots should never sit in the water...?
im making myself a 18 site aeropnic cloner in a 18 gallon tote , will post pics very soon.
going with dwc, havent gotten a straight answer on aero.

Well your wrong I have 7-9ft plants in an aero setup

I had a feeling that might happen. Dr Greenthumb throws a dewsy out there. I don't what kind of steriroids your got that thing on, but you're doin something right. I'll stick to my word and follow up with pics/results of my flowering lady. Though I may be in trouble from the looks of that beast.

Matatan. Yeah, in aero roots shouldn't come in contact with standing water, thought you'll be hard pressed to find many systems that actually make good on this. A hybrid of aero & DWC probably isn't gonna make much of a dif over just DWC. Especially if you're talkin low pressure aero.

What kind of pressure crosses the line from low pressure to high pressure aero? Nice vid on the aero setup Mike Young, have you gone through a complete cycle in that rig yet? If so, any pics of the roots?

Jordan293, what kind of aero system do you use to get plants that tall? Are you also doing vertical lighting?
