you can use whatever you like. i use cling film over a clone of mine (which is in a chaser glass for the sake of sience) and it works great. I use cling film over a food grade kind of clear plastic container, I use cheapo clear plastic cup or the top part of a clear bottle.
just about anything.
if its totaly closed more humidity will build up but you will have to remove it and put it again each day for air exchange. if you can poke a small hole it won't even need that.
the bottle method i've explained earlier is owesome because you don't need to do nothing. you leave the cap open and theres your air exchange.
I went further and placed the clone in one oz plastic cup from the kind used for wine samples and such, labled it and put it in the middle of the bottom part of the bottle. on the bottom of the bottle i've placed a bit of water that can vaporize and create costant humidity.
