Quick 1 before my porridge - or 'oatmeal' if you're from the US - goes cold

Done around 7 or 8 grows now in the last 2 years and all my finished dried and cured bud all seems to smell the same; Lemony with a peppery sort of smell, I never get the gassy pungent smell regardless of growing strains that are known for that smell (GG4, Purple dawg, Runtz etc). Bud structure of main colas is good but its just that smell I'm lackin

Drying conditions last harvest was no higher than 20c and 55% humidity, hung for a week (Individual branches due to plant training being abit poor this time round) then trimmed and jarred up. I just wanna get over that bar and start growing AAA bud consistantly

Only using the Canna range with R/O water and calmag at the min, no additives etc. Any suggestions there would be appreciated too

Ah shit my porridge is cold...

Sorry for long but vague description lol

They're indoors, seeds from Grizzly Seeds UK most times. I let the last lot go 10 weeks from flip. Another question I have wondered the last few grows, is it 1st day of flower from the flip or from when you see white hairs? I see it debated online a fair bit. Was using 2 x 200watt Viperspectre lights, 6" extraction to outside (RAM) with passive intake (Only in 1.2x1.2x2m tent) & R/O water with Canna Coco, A+B using Rhiztonic during seedling/early veg then just using A+B throughout flower with some PK13/14 mid flower.

There must be 1 key factor I'm missing but Im not sure what. Few pics below of the last one (GG4)

As soon as you stop counting weeks it gets much easier.

What was the high like?
Boring, glued in place, until falling asleep? Neither does it have a cerebral, nor psychedelic aspect to it.
Locals in my area are complaining about it because all the bud that they come across is just as you described.
Yeah there is a lot of that type of bud going around regardless of what name they are calling it. Gassy to nada…. plus that horrible lethargic high. What really going on.

To be honest mate I havnt tried it yet. I was wanting it to get abit of a cure first but reckon I'll have a go when I get back from work later and let you know.

Maybe its just me thinking they dont smell good? Man I need some self confidence when it comes to growing :wall:

EDIT: Would over drying cause lack of smell? 2 of the jars are sitting at 46% and 1 is at 55%. Also tried a bowl earlier, not a very full high unfortunately :( Maybe to do with my sky high tolerance but pretty disappointing all the same

Rolled are good but In my opinion, the steel is where it's at. They take a lot longer to cook but the flavor is a little better and the texture is way better. I like to cook them up with raisins and or a diced apple.

Have you got a pic of before harvest?
Like the day you consider them finished?

Your a bit underpowered on light by my reckoning, though that's nawt to do with your lack of flavour, smell. More just a density thing.

The only one I have from a day or two before harvest is ..

20230414_104144.jpg

Harvesting early ruins all flavor/smell profiles
So does turning leaves yellow or brown
These were put onto 12/12 on the 7th Feb and cut down on the 15th April, so just before end of week 10. Do you think I should of left them to go longer? No brown or yellow leaves tho. There was alot of under developed material under the canopy tho that I should of dealt with really, If I'd of got rid of all of this stuff before flower would that impact smell and flavour potency at all as it would main cola size ?

Cheers for the replies people :bigjoint:

if you mean 10 weeks from 12/12 it was probably closer to 7-8 weeks in flower, the first 1-3 weeks are the budding period or preflower.

Looking at the pic I think you could have let them go a 2-3 more weeks depending your preference.

Yes cleaning the garbage out is always a good idea for better environment and plant health.

Ah shit I was googling about this and reading other posts on other forums, some people said 10 weeks from flipping to 12/12 and others said not

If that is the reason for the underwhelming smoke I'm abit annoyed at myself for being to keen to cut em down this time round. Will bear this in mind for the next lot and let em go a little longer

Thanks for the heads up. Got a 480w bar LED above em at the min. Will maybe look into upgrading to 600 some point soon.
