There's nothing really that unusual about a plant that grows sets of 3 leaves but they're a cool oddity.

My mother is doing that now and worse. It's doing 3 single bladed full length leaves. Mitsubishi stylie.

I think it's a joke about the fact that the plant is a triple leafed mutant. I had a plant that looked like that once. It turned out to be very nute sensitive and all of the fan leaves turned brown, dried up and fell off very early in flowering. I couldn't clone it because it didn't produce any side branches. Ended up with a single large top bud and a decent smoke. I think mine was an ak48 from nirvana.
