Recently, i've been having chronic anxiety attacks, they come and go usually within 1-2 minutes but the onset is always like a "awe fuck!" moment for me, its been getting very intrusive, from having them in class or even during sex, idk if its because its finals week or just because i've got a chronic disorder or something, anyone else get these often?

Anxiety attacks will not go away. They can be very scary to the sufferer making them feel breathless or like they are having a heart attack. Often there is no physiological cause. Some meds, like beta blockers, are effective for some. For others there may be no escaping them. Biofeedback is more effective than medication in attempting to control the effects of these attacks.

If you do not use Leafly at present you should consider using it to pick new strains to grow. You can see the strains listed as causing anxiety or paranoia and avoid those strains.

Yup. Was on 3mg of clonapin for 2 yrs for them. They suck, big time. Mine happened at work though. I had to leave that job over it.

Hang in there, and go to your doctor if they get any worse. They will give you a low dose of a benzo to start, prob .5 of something to see if it works. They're seriously addictive though, so beware.

Don't be afraid to send a PM to me if you're bummin man. I'm on all the time when I'm home, just come and go while I'm doing stuff.

i had one when i was tripping on magic mushies, it had to be the worse feeling i've ever had in my life, i think it sparked egodeath almost, but its been about 3-4 months since i stopped having them, this week they started up again, damn body can't cope with stress well.... as long as i keep a level head they dissipate quickly, it seems when i'm in the middle of something their effect actually has a toll on me, like you said, its irritating to be taking a test or at work and they start up.

Have you been checked during one of these attacks? Often atrial fibrillation causes such feelings, especially if there is a poor ventricular response. EKG can confirm as can wearing a Holter monitor 24+ hours. The Holter is more informative as it records 24 hours of cardiac activity while an ECG will reveal atrial fib/flutter during the actual event only for obvious reasons. Make sure you are not having episodes of atrial fib, especially if there is any history of cardiac trouble in your family on either side.

Avoid benzodiazepines. They are not only addictive but breaking that dependence can take a very long time once you are addicted to them. Short term use only. Biofeedback and self-hypnosis are safer, faster and you don't get arrested for driving impaired from it. Benzos in the blood if you have an accident or get arrested for failing field sobriety tests gets you charged.

Damned good attitude and approach. Been in medicine quite a few years and I loathe benzos long term. People like them so much in the short term that long term use is very easy to fall into. False peace or happiness. Stick to pot.

...I can say that in the last 5-7 years I've smoked more ganj than I did in the past. Have had less of these attacks, it seems. I used to have to circle the yard a few times to get back to semi-normal. At times they would rattle my whole body. Like walking into a wall. No fun at all. I've very slowly learned how to 'listen' to them. I see them as a time to 'dive in' and try to understand what they are and where they come from. Being kind of "persuaded" () to grasp info on synapses, etc, really helped, too.

Exercise, eat healthy, and if needed try out L-Theanine. It's an amino acid found in green tea that induces feelings of relaxation by producing alpha waves in your brain. It is proven to be an effective supplement for anxiety w/ no side effects. It's generally recognized as safe. Exercising can help a lot more than you may think it can.

You're implementing your own form of biofeedback. Beats standing in line at the pharmacy. I cannot suggest strongly enough that biofeedback, which can be learned and for which there are trainers, and self-hypnosis (again there are those who can train you in this if it is appropriate) are so much more healthful and helpful and can last a lifetime.

...I agree. I've taken a lot of the prescribed meds, slept for a couple of years it seems. It was all I could do. That couldn't last long, seeing how I have a family and work life.

Your body talks to you, there is no doubt.

And suggestions for vitamin therapy make me also suggest a complete physical if you have not had one in a while. Make sure it includes a CMP (Complete Metabolic Panel) to assess whether you might indeed be suffering some malady due to insufficient levels of a certain mineral. Often low B levels can cause all sorts of mental side effects and vary from person to person. Not all vitamins are good for you in high doses however, and can even be fatal in some cases. As a rule do not take more than 100% of any fat soluble vitamin unless advised to do so by a doctor or registered dietitian who has seen your lab results.

uh no. first and foremost you need to find your trigger you have one everyone does, if you want to discuss this with me in lengthy response pm me, ive suffered with EXTREME anxiety for over 16 years, and i deal with it naturally.

this doesn't always help i exercise 5 times a week, and i eat seriously healthy.

i have a history of anxiety. It was actually so bad that i couldnt hold down food. I would force myself to eat and it was hard...and if i did get it down...it would come up 3-5 min later. that was anxiety. I got tested by the doctor, multiple tests. they couldnt find anything. I started taking prozac for anxiety and depression and I noticed that I could eat again. And ofcourse it made me feel normal again. I am totally against pills but Ive learned that prozac really has helped me greatly. I recently stopped taking it 4 months ago because I thought I could keep my anxiety and depression under control with having a strong good mindset. It didnt work. When the medication wore off I was depressed again and anxious all the time. Sure enough shortly after I had stomach problems again, so i started taking prozac again. I havent really had any problems since. Through this experiance I realized i needed prozac to normally function.
