Anyone can grow for cheap...check out my class.

I am a veteran, but wanted to start a thread to show any newbie or anyone can grow these plants. Simple grow, cheap, dirt cheap and it works. I started with some bag seed from a friend, some mids, so not some swag.....
1. Germinating
What i do is i take a paper towel fold it to a square so it can fit in a ziploc bag, get it wet and put the seeds on the paper towel fold it once and cover the seeds up. Make sure paper towel is wet and put in a plastic baggy. I have heard people say put it here or they wont germinate. I have put them on top of the fridge, outside, in a dark closet....and always get seeds to sprout.

2. Planting
I just buy Organic miracle grow dirt from Home Depot or Lowes. Maybe like 6 bucks. Get soil moist and use a pen tip to put a little hole in top of soil, careful not to go to deep, maybe as deep as an eraser head. Always put seed in sprout down, they will have a white tail which is the seed starting to sprout. Cover up the seed lightly and water very delicately so not to move the seed around in the soil.

And thats pretty much all folks. I put my finger in the soil to check how dry they are before watering. I leave them outside and there fine. No nutrients, no nothing. Its just a weed, let it do its thing.
Tips, i do add sand to the soil to allow for good drainage. I top my plants to keep them short and bushy. People say you have to let it grow so long before you can top, i top at 3 nodes including codleyn and no issues ever. I water with tap water, no checking ph, no confusing science...its just a plant lol.

and hence the diff between the roses in my yard vs an award winning heirloom rose! they're still both roses but which one looks and smells better?

yeah and what kind of yields are you pulling? there's obviously a point of diminishing returns when it comes to how much to invest, but for just a little bit more money and effort would return soooo much more.

I will agree with the OP on growing cheap I have never spent more then $500 (inc dr ref) per year on a grow each year gets less and less pricey as well..

The idea of just tossing them into the ground and walk away works.. but having the knowledge to save the plant when it begins to go to crap and producing a larger yield and better flavor is the end goal

When germinating i like to just put a few seeds in a cup of water and then after 2 days put them in a wet paper towel for 3 to 4 days with a plate covering them and then bam 100% germ rates!

weak results. you should try feeding them something once in awhile. just because something can and does grow, doesnt mean its of any valuable quality. nice try though.

Why attack him when his intentions were to only help, this kind of treatment makes me wanna...:spew:
Because he is probably 15 years old, claims to be a veteran , shows three puke ass seedlings and a couple of flowering plants in a Styrofoam cup . Look at the grows shown here. You think someone wants to listen to this shit ? Specialy a newbie who really wants to learn to grow good pot. He should of posted in general or the newbie forum and take his crap post out of here.

I was actually pretty surprised how well that first pic looked... I mean for an out of school high school kid or otherwise. Grown in straight mg potting soil with no severe deficiencies. I'll give the "kid" some credit... but yea those aren't what you convince someone your a veteran with

hahahahaha you're right kiddie I know nothing about growing. maybe you could help me diagnose the problem I'm having with one of my ladies? seriously though, I think your intentions are good in that you're telling people they don't need all the bells and whistles to get started and it really can be quite simple. but if you oversimplify it by saying don't worry about the ph of the water or bother feeding them - you really are missing something key here that will cause problems for people. some people are lucky enough to have good enough water where they live and obtain results that satisfy them. if you post pics of plants that look nutrient deficient, people will tell you, and what they are hungry for too.

Nice post Hoorny . The kid probably does have good intentions and states some good points. Just to funny of a first post if you ask me and then become that defensive he just opens him self up for ridicule... My first grow was Miracle grow soil and Nutes and they kicked butt. Very large plants and no pHing. The thing with MG nutes is it is so acidic it Ph's bad water by it's self > But you are what you smoke and I like heavy metal but prefer not to smoke it.
