Anyone else used acetone to make hash oil?

We used to use it to clean laser lenses, and would have to clean it with alcohol after to remove residue. But whatever, smoke it up.

Yeah wtf you talking about? I too have worked with it a heap in the boat building industry and it leaves nothing. Thanks Ledgrowing for the sensible answer.

If you want the best shit get Hexane its the strongest look into it Wikipedia , I say it works better than the rest and its Non-Polor and its been used for years not many people know about it and its used in companys to extract oils from seeds! and toxicity is low.

Bubble bags = huge pain in the ass with low yields. QWISO aka quik wash isopropyl alcohol oil = Safe, easy, fast, hi yields, clean high quality oil. Butane = high yields due to larger amount of phospholipids, extemely dangerous process, Butane is not easy to get out of the final product sometimes taking several days of constant whipping.

I have qwiso'ed hash from bags to make an extremely pure oil. Also I have washed butane oil with Alcohol and it will clean the butane out but you will lose some weight.

Acetone is quite toxic it is not a good solvent to use for a product that will be smoked, without a secondary wash.

ps this thread is in the wrong place...

butane dangerous? how so...only one simple rule to follow..no sparks/flames while doing it outdoors...what else can go wrong?

Are you serious? It's explosive and its in your hands. I can't begin to count the stories I heard about folks burning themselves, blowing walls down, burning themselves and others standing nearby. I ain't telling people not to do it, but in my opinion its not worth the risk of fucking up and getting burned or the tube exploding (and losing all my shit) for the quality of the product. I think alcohol oil is far better, just my opinion. Also if your making alot of oil it will take a long time whipping that shit to get all the butane out anad even then most people still don't get it all out. 99% isopropyl (avail.@Thom Thumb stores) comes out fast and clean.

i have probably done it 20 times.. as far as i am aware of nothing can "go wrong" one simple rule when making butane hash outdoors..always outdoors..no sparks/flames..i think every single story of something going bad is always the same thing..one stupid fuck lights a cigarette or joint.am i wrong?

I use Bestine to re-crystalize DMT.. Bestine is pentane, it is available at Micheals, hobby lobby, etc it is used for removing glue. I have often wondered if pentane will work like hexane in a oil extraction.
Pentane will work just fine. It's very low boiling so do somewhere with great ventilation.
As far as using acetone over IPA I'd go for the IPA as it fully evaporates while acetone leaves a film. That's why you don't use acetone to clean lenses. Alcohols evaporate without a film. Neither one is really toxic. You can drink IPA, and it metabolizes into acetone.

Bestine is actually heptane ... too high-boiling imo unless you're very good at removing residues. You can source it cheaper by buying Coleman fuel and distilling to get rid of the light oil they add to Coleman.
I would love to find a source of pentane!!!
Acetone works well for stripping bud of *everything*. The oil/hashoid I've made with acetone is inferior to hydrocarbon extracts imo. ... it's green-black, and a hydrocarbon back-extraction leaves a nasty tarry residue in the glass.
My one word of advice is ... if you use technical (hardware-store) acetone or anything ... distill it first. The technical grade I get around here has a slight but real grease/mesityl oxide residue. cn

The reason acetone and IPA extracts have the green tint is that they extract chlorophyl due to there polarity.
Heptane works as long as you have a vacuum to get any residue that gets trapped in the extracted oils.

so can you tell me one time when someone got hurt or damaged property if they were not smoking/using flames outdoors?...and as far as the 99% i don't believe that..i use 5 times refined butane..i have also used 4 times refined and i give it a water bath and cure it
