Apartment Room Grow, Need advice on LIGHTING??

Alright im thinking im going to do a little BIG time grow. I want to convert a hole room into a indoor growing wonderland.

Ive read that Mh, while not as efficient in flowering as HPS, creates more heavily trichomed buds. So im going to incorporate MH into the flowering equation as well.

Im thinking wither 2 1000ws (one MH), or 3 600wers (one MH). What do you guys think? Given a average room size, you know, 15 by 12' or close.

Where have you read that? Because as far as i read, HPS is better even for vegetative stage (HPS emit more amount of blue light than MH, although less in percentage).

idk, wish i could help ya, but i remember it was from a legit souce, OHH YEAA!! i read that shit out of a book, i think it was called indoor horticulture, with a pic of a mh bulb on the front with a bit bud inside it.

A single 1000 covers 4x4 ideally and up to 5x5 max really.
A 600 covers close to the same.

You'd need more light to really grow in the whole room.
4000-6000w total.

MH is said to increase trichome production because it includes UV spectrum where HPS does not, but combining the two may not make sense $$ wise on a grow the size you are talking about.

I am growing with a 1000W HPS, and a 400W HPS with a 400W MH. In my veg closet I have 4 - 24" T5s.

I like the MH for sativa. I think it keeps the plants at a manageable height. For indicas, I really like the HPS. It penetrates deeper in the leaves, so leaves a layer below still get light.

Dude... I have all this in a basement with a rooftop exhaust. How are you gonna control all that heat and odor in an apartment?

I am also interested in how you are going to take care of your heat and smell. I would like to know because I am in an apartment and looking at picking up a second medical patient. Right now we have 5 to 6 in bloom all the time this will take up to 10 to 12. Right now I am keeping temp around 80 degrees. So glad the colder weather is coming maybe I can get a couple lower and have a nice purple to my purple urkle.

I grow in a 1 bed condo, the bedroom is set up with flowering and veg room.

3 x 600w HID lights or 2 x 1000w HID lighting, MH or HPS will only cover about 5 x 10 efficiently.

If your worried about odor you should be either invest in a big carbon filter and fan, or else get a tent with a couple smaller filters. I use a 5 x 10ft Homebox XXL grow tent with 2 1000w HPS lights just to flower, I run 2 smaller dutch breeze carbon filters and I never have any odor issues. I run a 7000btu AC/dehumidifier in the room to controll temps, this is a MUST, and if you duct your AC out the bedroom window it will keep a nice low pressure in the room so that all the air is coming in from the bedroom door and not leaking out.

If your wondering about yields and what you would need to do out an appartment then, imho, I would say your not ready yet for that size grow and you should definitely do a lot more research. You should start with 4-8 plants in a closet, start small.

Also you are going to need a massive budget. I just spend over 5k on gear and I still need more stuff. The last thing you want is a half ass grow room. The thing about apartments and condos, it has to be PERFECT, there is NO room for error, odor leaks, anything, you need to bring in EVERYTHING in Unmarked boxes, and even then it still takes a little bit of luck and good fortune for everyting to run smoothly and noone to realize that your place is using 3x more power than everyone else in the building.

In my 5x10 tent, 2 1000w lights, I average 2-3 pounds every 5 weeks. Thats with c02, in soil, lollipopped at 24 inches, and for the last week of veg they are under a 1000w light to bulk them up for flowering.

Anyways, it is possible, but Im telling you first hand its a lot of work, so you have to be dedicated to the cause.

Good luck

Not sure about your mh theory, I have heard of it though and so have the guys at hortilux.

EYE Hortilux SUPER BLUE

Anyways, as everyone has mentioned 10x5 is realistic with that many lumens, and this will give you room for all the other bs that goes into making a nice grow op anyways so i guess thats a good thing. Let us know if you find some concrete evidence about this mh theory.

I also have a 500cfm blower, and 2 150w hps. so i have some stock. But yeah, wed need a we bit more materials, no doubts. But yeah, i want to make this official, and undetectable as possible. and i have seen some good set ups in my time so i should be pretty good off. i know all the basics.

IMO forget the o zone gen, and pop for a really nice carbon scrubber. Those do the trick a lot better than I had once thought.

Yeah I agree ozone can be dangerous to Your health if not used properly. Dutch Breeze DFS3 carbon filters sell for $99 on BGhydro, I run 1 on either side of my tent, each with a small 4" 178CFM vortex fan.

I Highly recommend fan controllers with any size fan you will be using, In any situation, a fan that is set to run even a little slower, 178 to say 140CFM and it will be a LOT quieter.

Sick, hows it working for ya? yeild that is..??

Well you see guys, in my arsinal i have a 500 cfm S&P blower. Cool tubes undoubtedly are a must. Probably put a scrubber on her. Also have a 5000 cubic feet ozone generator. im also going to try a DIY method aswell. Get a 5 gallon bucket and fill it up with cat litter (a brand that has the ONA) and dump a bottle of pinsol in it. Put some drill holes on the lid, and a hole to moung a computer fan. Tried it before, does wonders. Potent.

for 600 plus watts? damn idk, IDK bout that. This thing cant be heard behind a door, its one of the quitest fans on the market, like i said S&P and ill def. make a silencer box for it. No wories, ive done some homework. This will be an interesting journal, so stay posted. I think im going to go with a 600w for starters. Could i get any more potential out of a 100ow in a closet though? Still open actually.

I ended up with 100g per plant. Next time i will grow 8 in the same space that I grew four last time.
