those big fan leaves are a photosynthesis powerhouse if you cut them you will just be taking away some of the biggest food providers.

IDK that it really hurts the plants man...I've read it too like you have I'm sure, but I've removed leaves occasionally and noticed no ill effects.
When you have an abundance of lews, most of the won't be getting light on the bottom anyways...
And from my personal experience, leaves get ugly and burned and end up dying anyways, when you lay them over on the soil. What do you think?

I say just LST Perk! Or Top it even. But more towards the just LST side..That's what I'm gonna do with my 12/12' from seeds this time around.
But I've read a lot and see a lot that you can achieve the same bush without cutting the plants at all. But either is a good option!
I say check out some results around the forum and see what you see, and do what you like...
But did you learn about auxins already? If not, take a minute!

i wouldnt cut them. thats my opinion and im sticking to it. a plant that small it will make a difference. when the leaves are dead then pick them off but while they are green they are still absorbing light and making food for new growth.
maybe when the plant is a couple weeks into flower you can trim some of the leaves off but right now its just a seedling and it wouldnt produce the leaves if it didnt need them.
top, LST do whatever it is that fancies you but i wouldnt go removing leaves so the under growth can get light it just dosent make sense.

Picture it like the economy of a city. Say this city had many factories that run the economy of that city ,the more factories that are removed or more people laid off in these factories will directly effect the economy of of this city or production from this city.

i was not disagreeing with you i was simply stating my opinion. yes your correct its up to perkele but he should have more than one opinion on here to evaluate and decide. trimming leaves is extremely controversial and there is no right or wrong way. i do a fair amount of pruning once my town turns into a city (using gmans analogy)
but right now where the plants are still in vegatative stage and fairly small trimming anything off them i personally feel is going to do more harm than good. is it going to kill the plant? no it wont but i gaurentee the plant just grows out yet another big ass fan leaf. the leaves are like solar panels for the plant, the more surface area the more energy it can absorb, the more energy it absorbs the more food it can make. the more food means the faster it grows.
just because some of them leaves on the bottom are not getting full sun dosent mean they are not making food. it just means they are making less food which is fine because they are directly supplying the lower nodes on the plant. those big fan leaves are directly supplying the top of the plant where she just preformed surgery to. cutting them leaves off is only going to make the plant work harder to provide food for new cell growth to the top of the plant because the food has to be made at a factory all the way across town and then transported to the workers.

good point, so I've decided to do only some LST on both plants and leave the leaves there for the moment. I've used the 2 point tension technique. One tension point near the soil facing the opposite tension point which is near the FIMing cut. I'll see some results tomorrow maybe.

yes generally with LST you see results the next day or even the same day. this is why i dont LST untill a week before flip with my normal plants. I just LST a re veg because of the way they grow im going for a big ole bush and LSTing now sounded like a good option.

I didn't necessarily take into account the fact that the plants are so young with my initial respone.
I don't think I pruned as early...But I can't quite remember lol..damn spliffs
I think I wait until I bushed outta control haha..
But I guess what I meant was in time....once his bush becomes BUSH, he will have to clip some leaves.
And at that point, those leaves shouldn't matter as much because they'll still be growing bigger for a few more weeks, and are gonna have to go because they'll die slowly from laying on the soil or the lack of light. That's what happened with me, so I'd anticipate the same happening with anyone else using CFLs.
But I do see what you mean as for right now..My mind isn't set because I have a pretty good book that says otherwise.
I'll get a screenshot from the ipad later. But basically when tying the plant over, the author went ahead and removed everything that would have been laying on the soil, and everything else just grew up from there. The same illustrations and text from the book are floating around everywhere when you google topping/F.I.M.ing
The illustration isn't complete without the text that explains his logic tho..
But yeah, I haven't went his route with that yet....I plan on getting around to Uncle Bens Topping and maybe I'll work the LST/prune method and document it..
I wonder about having a four main colas rather than an abundance of flower sites..
But yeahhh I gotcha and agree that right now isn't the best time to be chopping leaves..But very soon I say that shall change.

just as it is...have some algae juice, but I was told by the grow shop guy to start the juice only after week 6. The soil has enough of nutrients to sustain the plant for vegi...

for the 1st one I will change the pot, I'll move it in a 15 liters one and I'll use some of my MG expand and grow, I'll do a mix of plagron with MG something like 80%-20%, don't see any harm, the MG should be good in small quantities and would give a good bust, what do you think? The small one...thinking to leave it in the same pot(?)

heres an "idea" if you flower them at the same time your yeild on the lil one is going to suffer. maybe take the bigger one out of the lighting and onto its own 12/12 cycle while the little one catches up a bit?
