Are drip systems really tha good..?

The man in my local grow shop has been tryin to convince me to buy a drip system for weeks now.. He seems to think am "mad" for not using one. He tells me it increases yeild by alot.. But i feel that he is just tryin to get rid of some of his stock haha.. Just seein if theres anyone using these systems that could give me some accurate advise thanks

mabey if there are sttings or something than yea but if not you cant have soil soaked 24/7

Theres a ten day digital timer..? An i thought it would make my plants abit lazy if they always have a drink there ready for them?

In answer to my question... And the mans statment... Does this really increase yeild?

havent gotten to flowering but i have my outdoors on a drip system, 1200 gph pump in a 32 gallon brute, going through 1/2 inch to 9" hydro halos. the plants seem to love it all the growth looks healthy and the 45 gallon smart pots stay moist at all times but the top couple inches dries out each day. so far im very happy with it their all about 6 feet tall and if flowering goes well i will definately upgrade my indoor to drip as well. if you work alot at wierd hours or are lazy drip is the way to go i find myself slacking on watering all the time because it takes forever and plants at the back of a 4x8 tray arent very easy to get to.

as for the hydro guy trying to sell stuff those hydro halos work really well, however its much cheaper to go to lowes or whatever and get inline drippers, 1/4 tees and 1/4 tube to make your own.

drip systems are great but can get more complicated the more plants you do. it will definitely increase yeild. timing is something youll have to work it but its really based on your soil, i use a soiless mix so i was watering 2x a day.but all in all drip sytems are worth it but hand watering will always be more precise.

I like drip system... my own design. Sturdy, easy to get to trees, over sized
feed tubing (because they can clog), evenly spaced holes, simple setup/tear
down; few draw backs (like flooding, smaller compact tree's) more water/nutes,
more attention to project.
Don't be sold on something that you are not comfortable with (yet)?

yeah the floods and clogs the biggest down make sure the top of the res it at the bottom of the pots or below to aviod pressure and flood problems.

I like the drip for soil plants cause it eliminates the chance of over/under wattering once you get it metered just right. and the plants really like consistancy with wattering. Just a thought, but yea save some money and buy your stuff at home depot..
