Attack of the mutant bagseed plants.

Getting back into growing after about 5 years off. I used to grow for awhile and aside from the first two grows I grew an unknown strain that I bred seeds from during my second grow. Unfortunately I lost my seed stash during a move. Not sure if they'd still be viable after 5 years anyway.

This time I'm growing some Northern Lights and AK48. But just for fun I decided to grow a few bagseeds. The seeds came from some schwag brick weed. I'm not sure why, but as you can see in the pics below, some of them are mutated as hell. I don't know how normal this is, but I've never seen such fucked up looking plants. One is even growing two tops already all by itself. In the past I've seen the first set of serrated leaves kinda twist or have a cresent shape to them, but I've never seen plants so massively screwed up.

On the filpside, I have one plant that came from the same bag and it's goregeous. Judging by the size of the leaves, it's gonna be a monster. No doubt that this thing is a sativa. It's growing at an exponential rate too. That's probably due to the T5's though. When I used to grow I just used A LOT of T12 shop fixtures and nothing else.

There's another plant from the same bag that's doing decent but has more Indica qualities to it. But then again, I think it got overwatered and that may have caused the wide leaves. Who knows. It's droopy too so overwatering is a possiblilty based on what I know (which ain't a whole lot). This plant and one of the mutants are showing some yellowing already as well. The strain I used to grow didn't ever need nutes until later in the process. I gave it some 1/4 strength nutes anyway and the yellowing has slowed/stopped. I've been more careful about watering too so mabye that helped. Again, who knows.

Here's the pics. First is the mutant plants. A few stretched some because I was afraid of cooking them. These T5's are quite a bit hotter than the T12's Used to grow with. Regardless, a slightly stretched sprout is better than a cooked one any day...

Mutant 1. Notice the two shoots already growing:

Mutant 2/dwarf plant:

Here's the massive sativa. Lot's of secondary growth already and a tree trunk stem:

Here's the indica/overwatered plant. I ran out of pots/cups so I resorted to using a milk carton as you can see:

The whole family:

I may or may not flower these depending on how much space I have when the NL and AK plants fill out. If I do flower them I'm gonna keep an eye on them to make sure they don't go herm on me. Even if I just veg them awhile it'll be fun to see what they do.

Wow. Only 24 hours later and the leaf right above my thumb in the above picture is hanging over the edge of the the cup already. These T5's are kickass. I can't wait to see what the Northern Lights and AK48's do under these things. I'm so stoked. :-P:-P:-P

Quick update (even though no comments yet)...

The "normal" plant is growing along nicely. Secondary growth really taking off. The "double headed" plant is doing good too as is the milk carton plant. I think the yellowing/brown spots on the double header and milk carton plants were from overwatering. I fed all but the tiny dwarf plant some 1/4 strength nutes anyway and either that or being more careful about the watering has stopped the yellowing.

Here's a few more pics.

First the normal plant. Check out the secondary growth:

Next the double header:

On a side note, my Northern Lights and AK48 plants are sprouted and growing well. Here's a couple of them. The AK is on the right:

thats crazy i saw a plant of my friends that looked like the stem was split in half and un rolled and was like a popsicle stick all flat and thick and had 100s of nodes everywhere mutants can be a good thing maybe is radiated weed lol good luck

I hope it's not radiated weed 'cause I smoked the whole ounce the seeds came from. :o

If it's a girl then I'll name the bud "Meltdown".

I've got a mutant from some bagseed too, check out this funky cold Medina lol:

The first almost looks like some sort or weird mutant orchid!

I'm seriously starting to wonder if some dipshit out there is radiating weed or something. =)

:-o

I'm glad someone made a thread dedicated to mutant bagseed  I was worried I was the only stuck with my 'special retard'. It looks a little more decent now but started out rough. I just flipped it to flower 2 days ago.

I'm starting to think that maybe the cause is pesticides sprayed on the weed during seed formation that screws up the genetics of the plant. If that's the case, it's just one more reason to grow your own so you know what you're smoking. I always thought it was kind of insane to smoke, snort, or shoot a substance that could have came from anywhere or has God knows what in it. For the record I don't snort or shoot, but you get my point...

These smugglers don't care what they put in their stuff. As long as it gets the end user high and doesn't kill them (right away), then they don't care.
