she powers up but theres all kinds of popping and shit. I opened it up a couple years ago and the components are pretty much shot. Tonnes of solder joins need to be redone, most if not all of the caps and wires should be replaced too. Be sad but its probably time to let it go. I reckon I've spent a 2 or 3 full years of my life plugged into it

Might just dump a valve amp in it and live vicariously through that since a modern solid-state replacement would be shit in comparison to what was there

Seriously if it means that much too you its probably worth the rebuild. Solder is easy to fix and the basic electronic parts should all still be available and probably cost next to nothing.

I used to throw everything away once upon a time. Since i started playing with electronics i found its actually pretty basic. Now i repair everything. Its surprising how available parts are and how cheap.

He could be one of the good ones but I’ve never once seen an engineer on the tools,they don’t need to not at the rates they charge they are worse than doctors

Thats just the way it is with all engineers. Smart blokes they just see the perfect example of how it should be done not the reality of the situation.

Like architects, unless they are a builder as well they seem to have wild ideas..lol

You could but you’d never get any work except for the odd cashie and you don’t need to be a contractor or even an electrician to do them

He works for a mainland company doing plans at night and in the AM , he has a 3rd year working for him in the AM and he goes out on the tools in the afternoons. he is a bit of a workaholic, he just finished building his own wooden yacht and has a rod project going on as well. Brews his own beer but has like one drink a week..lol

What type of rod is he building ? I’d love to do a 32 hi boy but just can’t see me getting a chance to do any work on it,I’ve got a few bits and pieces put away for when I do.

If were up to me I'd do it - I reckon if I had the guts of an amp lying around for ages while I slowly restore it then I might wake up to a severed knob courtesy of my missus.

It’s actually pretty rideable,no super bike but a lot more so than the other one.

Was an eleco. Now I’m just a humble farmer
