Doesn't even take many people to cut down large tracks of land. They generally only need to get out of air conditioned comfort for there breaks or a smoko. Not many jobs in it at all. Far more jobs in the tourism sector promoting wilderness areas.
Our unemployment numbers down here are one of the lowest its ever been so that tells you logging for jobs is not needed.
The Tarkine drive is an awesome meander.
Most Tasmanians don't think like JZ but most are not Green supporters either. Often they target sustainable work placers that already have and are keeping their agreements. Most are Conservationists and very proud of having so much of the state locked up. After all we are a state and population that spends allot of time out in nature.
Fish farms are a worry.

we didnt run out of water. Didnt run the generators. And the reason we got low was the gov sells electricity to the mainland. if we kept it then we would never run out of water or electricity. But we got low due to poor management.
Pollution in Lorina- no. Pollution in the Franklin? No.
Lots of pollution near fish farms? Yes.

I found out something the other week.
Did you know that a good % of cruising sail boats use a bidet seat? Its saves on toilet paper (room and weight is crucial on sailing boats) and also means less blockages and waste in the holding tanks.
Perhaps Bidet's will make an environmental comeback in our homes in the future.....
